BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Inklings Bookstore is no longer open for business.
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.ā -Romans 8:28
I am holding this verse close to my heart as I make this announcement. To say this is difficult is an understatement. Today is the last day for business as usual for Inklings Bookstore. We have made the decision to dissolve the bookstore business and we will no longer be open for regular hours after today. We have reached this decision for multiple reasons, however the main reason for this brings exciting news. Brittany has been in the process for nearly a year now of applying to Education ReEnvisioned BOCESā Homeschool Enrichment Program for her homeschool group. On March 12, her program was officially approved by ERBOCES! A lot of hard work has gone into applying for this program and we are delighted to have had that pay off and be moving forward with the enrichment program to begin in the fall of this year. We have decided that the building that currently houses the bookstore is the perfect location to expand the homeschool program and that the commercial space is irreplaceable, which is why you no longer see a for sale sign out front. We will be converting each space of the building to become spaces designated for the homeschool enrichment program in the coming weeks and months in preparation for the 2024-2025 school year. We may do some sidewalk sales or something of that nature for the remaining inventory the bookstore has. If there is something you would like, please feel free to message us on Facebook and we can always meet you at the building. Any future transactions after today will have to be cash or check. We will not be selling gift certificates or doing any more special orders. The end of this chapter of our lives is hard. We love our bookstore. Some of our greatest memories have taken place in this sweet store. Brittanyās babies and now Briannaās little boy have spent much of their childhood here and we hold these precious memories close. To the community, we are so thankful for each of you who have supported us throughout the years. Some of you have been such loyal customers and we would not have had great years with our bookstore without you. From Country Christmas events, Meet the Grinch, Christmas parades, Storytime, Cookies nā Crafts, Writing Workshops and author signings... weāve done so many fun things here. We hope the community cherishes these memories made here as well and the great legacy that Inklings has made will always live on. It is the Inklingsā name that has inspired the homeschool group now named Inklings Academy. It will live on, and this amazing Olde Holyoke Square will continue to provide for this community as it always has. Oh, if these walls could talk, what a story they would tell! Weāre incredibly grateful for this ole brick building and weāre so blessed by all the opportunities it provides. So, while the bookstore will no longer be an operating business, we will still be here and books will still reside on these shelves, but they wonāt be for sale, rather they will be available for homeschoolers to read and take home or use for research projects and to use for storytime for our homeschool littles. Eventually this page will no longer be used so please check out the Inklings Academy page for updates on what we are up to! Thank you again to our community for your love and support. We are sad that an Indie Bookstore will be no more, and we hope you all try, whenever possible, to support small independent bookstores. Thank you, Inklings Bookstore, for everything you gave our family.
