3:30am Wake Up Call to provide bicycle tech support for Max Performance Triathlons' Harvest Triathlon in Wareham, MA. Sprint and Olympic race distances were on the docket today and, as always, we provided tech support at the start and throughout the beautiful rolling bike course amongst the cranberry bogs and through beautiful Miles Standish State Park. This is Max Performance’s 20th year producing triathlons for the racing community, and the weather was absolutely perfect!

Thank you to longtime Grace Bicycles Ambassador and Ironman Janice Gray for your wisdom and help at the tent and on the course!!! Great to have you back Janice!!!

Hello to Jean, Scott, Jackie, Marc, Nick, Ray, Lea, Chris, Kayla, Leo, Donna, Terri, Keith, Christine, Christine and Elizabeth, Katrina+Aaron+the kids, and all the athletes and volunteers!!!

Awesome job once again Tim, Christian, Matt, and the whole Max Performance team!

JS's Next Bike, The Parlee Cycles Ouray- When longtime client JS was looking for his next road bike, he asked for my opinion. I told him that, bar none, Parlee bikes give me the highest level of confidence and greatest comfort level of any that I sell. We settled on Parlee’s all-road Ouray. Winner of Bicycling’s Allroad Bike Of The Year, the Ouray is “Parlee’s vision of the contemporary road bike: quicker off the line, steadier at speed, and designed for real-world conditions. It encourages longer routes and bigger ambitions without fatigue or compromise. Where other road platforms emphasize comfort or speed individually, Ouray balances both, delivering a bike that feels fast, assured, and eager to take on every mile.”

Quick hits:
Designed to balance race-bike speed with all-day sustainability
Tire clearance up to 40mm
Best Allroad Bike 2025, Bicycling.com

Specs:
Parlee Ouray carbon frame and fork
Sram Force AXS wireless electronic drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes
Boyd Prologue Disc wheels with hooked rims

We chose Boyd Prologue wheels over Parlee’s standard Zipp 303 offering due to Boyd’s use of hooked rims for greater tire security under all conditions. 30C width tires yield the fastest speeds.

Thank you for your support and confidence in me for all these years J! Enjoy the many miles to come!!!

As always, thank you everyone for your support!

LG’s Argon 18 Krypton- Many of L’s friends are clients of mine, and are serious roadies with thousands of miles under their belts. They sent L my way for her next road bike. I made an appointment with her and we sat down and talked about her riding, and what she was looking for in her new bike. At 5’3”, fit was going to be very important. She also wanted endurance comfort, but still be able to mix it up with the boys on their group rides.

She chose the Krypton, one of Argon 18’s Allroad models. The Krypton series feature bikes that have a slightly more responsive ride than a more laid-back classic endurance road bike, yet can handle up to 40C tires. This means that, if she wanted to, she could have a second set of wheels with more gravel-worthy tires, making this an extremely versatile bike. Argons are also typically available down to size XXS.

Her Krypton comes with Sram Rival AXS electronic shifting, hydraulic disc brakes, Vittoria 700x32C tires, and Scope carbon wheels developed in the Netherlands. It has a downtube storage compartment. It’s unique and different, as all Argons are.

Enjoy your new ride L! Have fun making the guys jealous!

As always, thank you everyone for your support!!!

It's Saturday morning, May 30th. I received an email from my Argon 18 sales representative saying that Argon 18 is closing out their current Subito eGravel and eRoad bikes. Sizes are limited and, honestly, may be gone by the time you read this, but I felt this info was worth posting.

KH’s Next Road Bike- Longtime client K has multiple Ironman 140.6s under her belt. On top of that, she rides road, gravel, and mountain whenever she can. When it came time to get her next road bike, we discussed a number of possibilities. She decided on a Quintana Roo Service Route, an endurance road bike with a racy aero edge. The SR’s tighter wheelbase gives it nimble handling, and the taller front end and clearance for wider tires give her the all-day comfort she was looking for. We decided to forego Quintana Roo’s stock wheel offerings for fast, light, and durable South Carolina-built Boyd Prologue 44 wheels.

Build specifications:

Frameset: Quintana Roo Service Route, full carbon, Podium Green finish
Components: Shimano Ultegra/105 Di2 Electronic mix with hydraulic disc brakes
Wheels: Boyd Cycling Prologue 44 Disc with Continental Gran Prix 5000S tires 30C

Have a blast with your new ride, K! Thank you!!! 🚴‍♀️🏊🏃‍♀️

As always, thank you everyone for your support!!! 🙏😊

What’s Old Is New Again - Longtime client EH, a veteran of Leadville and other endurance MTB events, races cyclocross at a high level. Over 10 years ago, he purchased his Giant TCX aluminum CX race bike. He loves it so much that when it came time for him to consider a new race bike, we had trouble finding something that he would be comfortable with.

Luckily, I was able to work with Giant to find E an updated version of his CX bike. This frameset is 2-3 years younger than his bike, so it came with more modern features like flat-mount disc mounts and clearance for up to 40C tires. But it’s still made of durable aluminum, and has a stout carbon fork.

We handpicked the components for his bike. Specs are as follows:

Frameset: Giant Bicycles TCX SL Aluminum
Fork: Giant CX Carbon
Wheelset: Boyd Cycling Pinnacle
Stem: Giant carbon
Tires: Grifo Pro TLR 38C
Group: Shimano GRX820 1x Mechanical Shifting with Hydraulic Disc Brakes
Crankset: Praxis Zayante Carbon 1x
Pedals: Crank Bros Candy 7

This was an extremely fun custom bike to design and build to E’s specifications. We’re looking forward to what cyclocross season brings!!! Go get it E!!!

As always, thank you for your support!!! 🙏😊🚴🚵

A Perfect Sunday Morning For The Start Of Max Performance Triathlons 20th Season - Last September, we were blessed with a beautiful morning for the Buzzards Bay Triathlon, Max Performance’s last race of 2025. Today, it was yet another gorgeous morning to start the 2026 triathlon season at Max Performance’s Season Opener triathlon in Hopkinton State Park. Grace Bicycles Ambassadors Jen Fields and Elle Blackburn, coach Jean Gillis of Dreamfar Triathlon, and I took care of business at the tent, pumping tires, checking bikes, calming apprehensive newbies, and having a blast. On the bike course, there was only one flat that needed our attention as the conditions around Hopkinton and Ashland were near perfect.

Hello to Evan, Danielle and Chris, Nick, Marc, Julian, Scott, John C., Caroline, Mark, and all the athletes!!!

Awesome job once again Tim, Christian, Jim, and the whole Max Performance team!

Once again, thank you to all the first responders and volunteers who make all races fun and safe!

We will see you at the Harvest Triathlon on June 7th!!!

As always, thank you for your support!!!! 🙏😁🏊🚴🏃🏅
