Yes, we check in every book in every box.
Yes, we assign every book a condition and credit amount.
Yes, we price label every book in your stacks.
They just might get bargain priced. Or maybe collectible or must-have.

We put lots of factors into how your books earn credit and get priced for the shelf. How old is it? What condition is it in? What number in the series is it? Is there a screen adaptation? Has the author been in the news? Did they mention it recently on NPR? Is it on a notable book list? Do we have 15 people on the waitlist for it? This is why your books sometimes take a little longer to get processed.

Yes, we will take all your books, but if you bring boxes of damaged, unreadable books or boxes of non-book items, those don't earn credit and they make our job of providing quality books at accessible prices harder.

We are not a nonprofit with endless volunteers - we are 4 people trying to get you the books you'll enjoy. Don't fill our backroom with trash, please. (Yes, I am a little frustrated.)

A lot of you have heard Aimee talk about this before, but did you know that in some of our schools new teachers only get $100 in their budget for books fo the whole year? For those who are paying attention, new picture books are currently priced around $18 - how many books will your kids actually get to read with budgets like that?

Teachers need books to instill a love of reading in their students. Next time you're in store, consider applying some of your store credit to our educator fund to make Back to School season sweet for our schools! (Also, find out who's running for school board and talk to them about your district's budget!)

The Back To School countdown is started, and new teachers all over West Michigan are replenishing their classroom libraries (because a lot of their schools have defunded having a school library).
