Today is my day, so a little bio and introduction. My name is Martha Linder- Morin. I was born and raised in Caledonia NY. A farmer’s daughter, the oldest of three.
A graduate of Caledonia Mumford. Becoming a florist wasn’t the plan in high school. I had visited a couple vocational programs . One being Printing and Photography. But I had missed the bus back to school. I think a guidance counselor had me visit the agricultural wing, and sitting in on Floriculture. This was a fit. Something sparked my interest. I applied at 3 agricultural colleges. Finding myself after a couple of visits at SUNY Cobleskill. There I received my associates degree and award for outstanding Senior in my field.
Later, my college advisor had approached me at graduation with a phone number. A florist in Rochester is looking for help.
Justice Florist… I began working part time , working my way up to full time. Made many friends and learned a lot along the way. Working at the Hilton and Hudson Ave location for 12 years. Teaching a farm girl about the city.. there’s some stories. One I can now laugh about, my car broke down and my Dad didn’t know how to find me. If I remember right, he sent one of the hired guys out.
I also learned about the history of the Polish neighborhood and becoming fast friends with our neighbors at Andy’s Candies.
Fast forward, an opportunity to become the new owner is now on the table. With two littles in tow, my journey began. Transitioning into an owner with still a lot to learn. . 20 years!, WOW! Did I think I’d be here ? No not really. I’ve learned a lot! The peaks and valleys and a few life changing events.. somehow.. we’re here! Team Justice, friends, family and customers… you’ve been my rock. Thank you. This industry has seen many challenges and changes. I’m doing my all to see it succeed.
My Dad had a saying.. “May the bird of paradise fly up your ass”.. I know now those aren’t the correct words, but I’m flying or at least trying to.
Free time is spent with family and friends. My love for the outdoors and gardening continues. Maybe all of this began on the farm, picking flowers in the cow pasture. Or hanging out by a crick I knew we weren’t supposed to be in.
I have also found a family in the Caledonia Fire Department. For all of this I am grateful. I appreciate all the love and support. I can’t thank everyone enough. Cheers to many more!
