We're not quite 100% finished yet, but the archives are open and growing. Explore Case Files, Research Reports, mysterious locations, historical investigations, maps, documents, and clues connected to the secrets of the Old Desert.

This is just the beginning.

For many years I’ve enjoyed creating stories, books, artwork, strange ideas, mysterious worlds, and visual projects inspired by the Southwest, New Mexico, old legends, history, and imagination.

Now many of those interests are coming together into a new storytelling venture called:

THE MESILLA FILES.

This new YouTube channel will feature:
• mystery storytelling
• hidden archives
• strange historical investigations
• atmospheric artwork and graphics
• recovered documents
• symbols and mythology
• and interconnected stories involving Old Mesilla, Captain Voss, The Enclosure, and the Old Desert.

The project is hosted by Dylan and Spencer, who act as investigators uncovering the files and mysteries as the audience follows along.

Much of the visual style, mythology, storytelling direction, graphics, and artwork connected to TMF comes from ideas and creative work developed by Ted Clifton over many years.

So while TMF is something completely new, it is also deeply connected to the same creative interests behind:
• my books
• my artwork
• Southwest themes
• mystery storytelling
• and imaginative world-building.

This is not a traditional podcast or YouTube channel.

It is designed to feel like an unfolding investigation where the audience discovers the mystery together with the hosts.

After a great deal of thought, I’ve decided that Theo’s Curations will be coming to an end.
Over the past several years I’ve had the opportunity to create hundreds of artistic images inspired by the Southwest, Colorado mountains, deserts, skies, trees, old towns, and the landscapes that have meant so much to me throughout my life.
While the business side never developed the way I once hoped, the creative experience itself has been deeply rewarding.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who supported the journey:
those who followed the page, purchased artwork, encouraged the project, shared kind comments, or simply spent time looking at the images I created.
Your support truly meant a great deal to me.
Creating art has never really been about business alone for me.
It has always been about imagination, emotion, atmosphere, color, and the feeling a place can create inside us.
That creative spirit will continue.
While Theo’s Curations is ending, new projects and new directions are already beginning to take shape.

Artistic images inspired by one of my previous homes — Las Cruces, New Mexico.

I truly loved my years in Cruces.

The Organ Mountains.
The desert skies.
The cactus and rugged landscape.
The Mexican culture, incredible food, old adobe character, and the feeling that the Southwest still held mystery and history around every corner.

That environment influenced much of my artwork over the years.

The colors became bolder.
The skies more dramatic.
The desert more alive.

Some places never really leave you.

Maybe I should move back?

I spent many years living in the desert, mostly in New Mexico.

And honestly… in everyday life the desert can sometimes seem quiet, dry, and even a little empty.

But that was never how I experienced it in my imagination.

I saw dramatic skies.
Intense light.
Deep shadows.
Strange colors at sunrise and sunset.
Storms rolling across distant mountains.
And a landscape that felt mysterious, ancient, and alive.

Over the years I sketched, painted, experimented, and imagined a Southwest world filled with bold color and dramatic atmosphere.

My artwork is not meant to simply copy the desert.

It is meant to capture the feeling of it.

The openness.
The silence.
The energy.
The mystery.

A version of the Southwest that is more vivid, emotional, and alive than ordinary reality.

Artwork should not disappear into a room.

It should create atmosphere.
Energy.
Emotion.
A sense of place.

Much of my work uses bold, dramatic color because I want the images to attract attention and leave an impression. The mountains become deeper blue. The skies more intense. The Southwest more alive.

These are not quiet background images.

They are designed to bring warmth, movement, and visual energy into a space.

Colorado mountains.
Aspens.
Desert skies.
Bold color.
Strong contrast.
And artwork that people remember.

Art is more than shapes, colors, or scenery.

Art is emotion.
It is memory.
It is atmosphere.
It is the feeling a place leaves behind long after you have gone.

Much of my work is inspired by the Southwest because those experiences were real to me.

I lived in the New Mexico desert.
I walked the desert roads.
I watched the storms roll across distant mountains.
I saw the changing colors at sunrise and sunset that almost seemed impossible to describe.

The feeling of the Southwest stays with you.

The openness.
The silence.
The mystery.
The light.

My artwork is not meant to reproduce the landscape exactly as it appears.

It is meant to capture how it feels.

The Rocky Mountains have a way of making everything feel larger.

The trees.
The sky.
The movement of the clouds.
The changing light across the ridges.

Much of my artwork is inspired by those moments when the mountains almost stop feeling real — when the colors become deeper, the atmosphere more dramatic, and the landscape feels filled with energy and motion.

This video is a small journey through that feeling.

Colorado mountains.
Towering trees.
Bold color.
And the sense of standing inside something timeless.
