Anglers double up on double-digit bass, add Legacy Lunkers two and three to AGFC program
The Riney family is having a week for the record books. Just a few days after Kevin Riney turned in the first official Legacy Lunker of the season, his son Dylan (right) and friend Kyle Lochridge decided to join the party.

Dylan and Kyle joined Kevin for a day of fishing today at Lake Austell in Village Creek State Park, and each angler added their name to the Lunker logbook. Kyle caught the first big fish of the day, a 10.16 lb. beast, at 10 a.m. While waiting on the Legacy Lunker coordinator to arrive, Dylan topped Kyle's mark by hauling in an 11.65 lb. tank at 10:45 a.m.

Jeremy Risley, AGFC Black Bass Program coordinator, said he’s surprised that the first three fish from the program have come from the 85-acre lake along Crowley’s Ridge.

“The lake is pretty small and only allows electric motors, but the AGFC has stocked Florida bass there and managed it as a trophy fishery for years, so it has the potential.”

Both fish were accepted into the program and are at the Joe Hogan State Fish Hatchery in Lonoke. Both anglers will receive replica mounts of their catch and be entered into a drawing later this year for a 21-foot Xpress bass boat and a 250-horsepower Yamaha outboard. The fish will be spawned with TITAN MAXX Florida Bass that have been confirmed by Red Hills Fishery in Georgia to have the genetics to grow large. After spawning, the Legacy Lunkers will be returned to the lakes where they were caught.
