This was my very first customer! I love the look on a child's face when you tell them its a magical door that help the fairies come over to our world. She is a perfect example!

Our FD Featured Artist is Ronda Hiller of WoodenBLING!

The idea of making Fairy doors came from Ronda's childhood memory of her Grandmother. When she was a little girl her grandmother had a little door at the bottom of an old tree in her yard. She said that it was a magical fairy door and if you leave little treats or something shinny the fairies would come out and sprinkle their magic fairy dust on her flowers. She said thats how her flowers would grow so pretty. Ronda would come back later to find the gifts gone and get such a kick. She was a true believer.

Ronda loves making these little fairy doors and hearing the stories from others about how and where they placed them. Ronda made them with a garden in mind but they are just as popular inside as well. The little fairy doors are a great conversation piece and encourage imaginative play with children.

Ronda Hiller was born and raised in Chicago until moving to Highland Park,IL. where she has lived the past 20 years

Did you know that originally I was making children's custom furniture? That's why my Etsy shop is called WoodenBLING. I made a fairy door from some scraps, put it on etsy and it very quickly became my best seller. Now I only make my Fairy doors. Sometimes I miss the big pieces.
