This photo is from the fun we had in 2019. Of course, last year, we had to cancel the Craft Yard Sale. I'm writing with a proposal for this year.

After having served 6 years as pastor of the Nokesville Church of the Brethren (the host of our yard sales, and beneficiary of the amount raised), I have been called to serve a congregation in the Lancaster, PA area, and will be moving shortly. However, I do have a fabulous collection of supplies to sell.

I'd like to do an outdoor, socially distanced yard sale in the church parking lot - from 10-2 so there is time for the sun to shine and warm us up - on Saturday, April 17 - with the rain date Saturday, April 24.

Would you all be up for something outdoors - wearing masks and keeping appropriate distance?

Donna Kauffman, best-selling romance novelist and USA TODAY contributor, dies at 60

It is with breaking hearts that we share the news of Donna Kauffman's passing. She was an absolute force of nature - with boundless energy - so it's hard to grasp this loss.

She loved her friends/students/coworkers, and said the store was where she came to talk to real people, instead of the imaginary ones in her creative brain.

Please feel free to share a memory or a picture from some awesome class you took. She will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Best-selling author Donna Kauffman wrote more than 70 novels and was a contributor to USA TODAY. She died at age 60 of cancer on April 9.

I hope you all are staying safe and healthy, and finding time to dig out your crafting supplies and play a little. If you are finding time to make cards, and would like someone to send them to, I have some shut-ins that would be thrilled to get a little piece of joy in the mail. Please send me a private message, and I'll provide some contact info.

The World Health Organization continues to state there is very little risk of transmitting the virus through the mail. Thankful for glimmers of good news!

One of my favorite things about the Happy Stamper community is the care and concern - the sense of family - that we shared! Having said that, we want to care for the most vulnerable among us - those in the high risk group for the Coronavirus.

Therefore, we will postpone our March 28 sale, so that when we reschedule, everyone can feel comfortable about participating. As things are changing rapidly, we will wait to select a new date. Please stay tuned for more information, and definitely take care of yourself and those around you.

This event is still happening. In addition to bringing your own shopping bag, consider bringing hand sanitizer as needed. Believe it or not, this event is bigger than last year!

We are excited to welcome back The Project Bin. They will be anchoring the "smaller" room, so you'll definitely want to make time to shop in both rooms. The Project Bin will be offering a FREE make-and-take at their table (pictured) featuring a brand new set. They have a show special - buy one set/get a second at 50% off.

You simply don't want to miss this - stay well and see you soon!

We have scheduled a second donation pickup for Saturday, February 22 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM in the parking lot of the Herndon location (208 Elden Street).

SAVE THE DATE! The 3rd Annual Stamp and Scrap event is earlier this year - Saturday, March 28, 2020. If you have some time off at the end of this year, and no travel plans, why not spend some time sorting. You may find that you have enough items to "purge" that you'll want your own table. Or, you may prefer to simply donate your items to the Happy Stamper table to sell.

We will send out information at the end of the year about donation/pick-up times and places as well as table registrations. We are very excited!

Meanwhile, as we approach Thanksgiving, we thought you might be interested in an article Angela wrote that was just published in the Messenger magazine, inviting folks to Move Toward Gratitude. We continue to be so grateful for this community! Happy Thanksgiving!

Save the date!!! Saturday, March 28, 2020

After two years of wonderful Stamp and Scrap yard sales in the month of June, it was requested that we consider a different date so that you could budget for the stamp/scrap show at the Dulles Expo Center, which is always the last weekend in June. We aim to please!

Mark your calendars and plan to join us for our third annual incredible event on Saturday, March 28, 2020! More details will follow. Please help us spread the word. We look forward to seeing you all!

It is with great joy that I remind you the stamp and scrap yard sale is only 1 week away - Saturday, June 8 from 9:00 am - 1:00 pm!!!! Here are all the final details so that you can make the most of your day!

1. Plan to get here as close to 9:00 am as you can. We have 2 rooms of vendors this year: 31 vendor tables plus the massive selection of items the Happy Stamper has to offer. This is so, so, so much bigger than last year. You will need the full 4 hours to browse and shop them all.

2. Bring your own shopping bags, if you can. Some vendors will have a few, but better safe than sorry.

3. To give you the maximum shopping time, we do have concessions on site. We will have hot dogs and half smokes, chips, sodas, water, coffee and a huge selection of homemade baked goods. (I'm not in charge of the food - you can thank me later - so I don't know every item that will be available, but we'll keep you fortified to keep shopping). All proceeds benefit the church major maintenance fundraiser.

4. Please consider bringing a donation to our Blessings Box. We serve our community by making laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, diapers and wipes, toothpaste and toothbrushes, etc. available to anyone in need. If you forget (but still want to participate), there is a Dollar General literally across the street where you can pick something up cheap. And, you'll get some shopping bags :-)

5. A couple of our vendors have credit card capabilities, but many do not. Come prepared with cash and check so that you don't miss out on the many bargains to be had!

6. Reminder: This event is not in Herndon :-) It is held at the Nokesville Church of the Brethren, 13002 Fitzwater Drive, Nokesville, VA 2181. We are so excited to welcome you!

A special note to the vendors: If you are nearby and wish to set up your table(s) Friday night, the facility will be open from 5:30-7:30 pm. Otherwise, you can come at 7:00 am on Saturday to set up. We will have folks here to help you carry your items to your table from your car.

Questions? I am looking forward to seeing you all soon!

Here are a few updates to what is shaping up to be another great event!

1. We have sold all of our indoor tables, but we are taking a wait list. Please let me know if you're interested in that - we had a lot of movement last year as the date got closer. For those of you who reserved tables but haven't mailed your check, please do so this week, if possible.

2. We had our first pick-up yesterday for those who wished to donate items for the church to sell and keep the money for major maintenance projects. THANK YOU! Several of you emailed that you couldn't make yesterday's date, so we've scheduled a second one.

***Saturday, May 4 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm***
The pick-up will take place in the store parking lot: 208 Elden St., Herndon

If you prefer to just bring your items to the church (if you live closer to Nokesville), please email me at [email protected] to arrange a time. I need all items before May 17 to have time to price and sort them.

3. Please share the sale info with your crafting friends! There is no admission charge, and there will be lots of fabulous bargains! These are some great items from the companies you know and love, including gently used items from Design Team Members.

***The Project Bin stamp company will be offering a FREE make-and-take project while supplies last.***

Cash and checks only, so come prepared.

Announcing the 2nd Annual Stamp & Scrap Yard Sale!!!
Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for some
yard sale bargains and shopping fun! Plus, you will be supporting a great cause!

When: Saturday, June 8 from 9 am - 1 pm
Where: Nokesville Church of the Brethren (13002 Fitzwater Drive, Nokesville, VA)

You may remember last year, the Nokesville Church of the Brethren, where Angela serves as full-time lead pastor, was in dire need of some major maintenance projects (including a new roof, re-paving the parking lot, a
new boiler, new windows and more!).

We are pleased to report that, through a great deal of fundraising last year - of which so many of you were a part - we have completed the roofing and windows projects (55 new windows were installed!!!), as well as installed new flooring in the entryway.

But, we are still raising funds for the new parking lot and boilers - and plus, we really enjoyed being together and SHOPPING! So, let's do it again!!!

Here's how you can help:
1. Save the date and plan to attend. There is no admission charge, and there will be lots of fabulous bargains and grab bags for sale! These are some great items from the companies you know and love, including gently used items from Design Team Members. Cash and checks only, so come prepared.

2. Perhaps you want to rent a table and sell your stash! This is an excellent way to get rid of items that are no longer your style (your trash is someone else’s treasure), and make room in your craft area for more new favorites! Tables rent for a $25.00 donation (checks made
payable to the church). Price all of your own merchandise, sell at your own table and keep what you make (or, make an additional donation to the church, if you wish). There are 25 spaces indoors, and once those are gone, we will begin selling spaces outside - rain or shine. Reserve
yours by emailing Angela ([email protected]) today!

3. Or, if you don’t want to bother with a table but still want to clear out your craft space, you can simply donate the items you wish to get rid of and all proceeds will go to the church maintenance fund. We will price and sell your supplies, and the church will get the money. We will make several drop-off times available in the previous shop parking lot (in Herndon) so that we can have your donations in plenty of time to price them and so you won’t have to drive to Nokesville to make your donation.

***The FIRST drop-off date is Saturday, April 27 from 2:00 - 3:30 PM***

4. There will be concessions on-site. All money raised through the sale of concessions will go to the church. So, you are welcome to eat – or, you can bring food to donate to the concessions sales or even work a portion of the time in the kitchen/concession stand as a contribution, if you wish.

5. As you know, we always had a community outreach component to our Open Houses, so while this entire event serves as community outreach, we did want to make available the opportunity to support the Blessings Box – our outreach to families in need in the Nokesville area. If you’d like to participate in that, simply bring any of the following items with you to the event on June 8: laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, baby wipes (all of which can be picked up for a buck at Dollar Tree), and diapers in all
sizes.

We will be donating any items that don’t sell by the end of the day to the Herndon Senior Center, the Mansassas Senior Center, the Blue Ridge Christian Home, and the Nokesville Church of the Brethren Rainbow Preschool. If you want more information on how to reserve your space or donate items, please respond to Angela at [email protected].

We are grateful for the opportunity to continue our community and look forward to seeing you this summer!
