Rust Rocket Cyclery

Rust Rocket Cyclery Rust Rocket Cyclery exists to encourage the recycling and riding of vintage bicycles! Flat tires, greased bearings, cables and brakes, from basic to beyond.

In addition to our particular fondness of vintage rides, we are also happy to support all other forms of cycling! Let us know if we can lend a hand, or a wrench, and we'll do what we can to serve you. If we don't know, we can try to figure it out together! We welcome any and all posts related to cycling... safe cruising, yall. Cheers!

Had a great time riding around with the Coasters BC in Wichita, this last a Thursday!

Coasters meet at Vagabond Cafe 4-6pm and ride from 6-9ish, every Thursday.

Thankful for everyone that came out, last Thursday, and glad to get in some more riding around Sedgewick Co Park, Friday!

Enjoyed setting up a little *flash* exhibit about the importance of American bicycles at the Herington Historical Museum, yesterday!

Had a handful of interested visitors and glad to put smiles on a few kid's and parent's faces as they came for special activities hosted by the museum.

This was short notice and thus unannounced, but will try and give better heads up if I do something like this again in the future!

Excited to pick up this 1890s "Winton" bicycle, from neighboring Marion, KS, today.

The bike was donated to the local museum 50 years ago, but was put in the basement, never displayed, due to the poor wheel condition.

Winton went on to make early autos, including the first to cross the continental United States in 1903.

Winton's patents and advice was sought by Ford, and he continued work on automobiles and patents into the 1920s when he passed.

The family was apparently uninterested in a return of the bike and thus it was recently sold to benefit the museum.

Heck of a machine I'll be in need of some parts (pair of appropriate aged glue-on tires) and skilled assistance (wood rim restoration, if possible) to help it display better, at least!

NFS, atm; want it to stay in KS, but definitely interested in history, literature, advertisingetc re: the brand, model, and Winton.

Finally found time/motivation to fix up this old Monark-built Firestone Super Chief, on behalf a ladyfriend that's down to ride.

A vintage three-speed Shimano coaster-brake, and cushy Trek-cruiser seat, etc. should make this an easier and more comfortable cruiser.

Hope y'all are still wrenchin and ridin, out there!

Thinking of our worldwide family of old bicycles enthusiasts, wishing the world could just chill out and enjoy a good ride, cuz maybe there would be more joy, peace, and understanding, then.

Y'all stay well, out there! Take care, mentally and physically, and don't stop riding till the wheels fall off!!!!
