I've been sewing and crafting for as long as I can remember. If there's a technique I haven't tried, it's p

robably on my wish list. At my blog, Crafty Staci, I share beginner-friendly craft and sewing tutorials, simple recipes, links to fun things I find elsewhere and my successful, and sometimes not-so-successful, attempts at expressing my own creativity. I find that people who haven't tried it before are occasionally hesitant to take that first step into making things. I try to guide and inspire them to jump in and not be afraid to make mistakes along the way. I'm very fortunate that I can spend my days doing the things I love! I also have a shop on Etsy where I sell handmade photography accessories, like straps, lens cap holders, business card holders and memory card wallets, coffee cup sleeves, DIY coffee cup sleeve sewing kits and vendor aprons.

With the 4th coming up, I wanted something new for my dining room table. I didn't want to drive in to town, so I was working completely from my stash. I had a blue piece with the state names on it, and there was exactly the amount I needed. Exactly. You know what's coming folks. Yep, I mismeasured, cut, and ruined my plan. However, after grabbing the blue bandana print to fill in the gaps, I liked it better anyway. The scrappy strips on the back turned out better than expected too, so both sides of this will see the light of day over the next couple of weeks!

Maybe it's weird to show the back of a quilt before the front, but I kinda love this. These are the cut-offs from my upcoming Bear Summit quilt, and they're perfect for adding a little interest to the rarely-seen side!

Continuing with my unintentional "And then it went wrong" series, when the little voice in my head says it's too thick and too close to the edge for a fancy stitch, I should listen. My poor sewing machine tried for a long time before screaming about the bunching thread on the back. If anyone needs me, I'll be pulling out this seam until the end of time. 🫣

I'm working on making the cover quilt for my new Bear Summit quilt pattern. I made the first bear, hung it up on my wall, then noticed days later that I'd sewn two pieces in upside down. I ripped those out, sewed them in correctly, then proceeded to sew the lower section of the block on with the wrong side up. I'm naming all of the bears, and this one is now Jack (the Ripper). 🫣

It always starts as an absolutely calm day. If I set foot outside to take a photo, suddenly I'm standing in a wind tunnel. Every single time. This charm bunting was just a perfect example of what happens when the universe suspects I'd like a nice photo of a project. 😮‍💨

They made so much progress on the house last week! It's really starting to take shape. I can't wait to see what it looks like later this week!
