"I paint on paper or birch panels prepared with roughly applied layers of plaster and pigment, followed by layers of oil paint and cold wax, which are then sanded and carved and stained to reveal a complex, map-like substrata. Chris Henry is excited to welcome a small group of artists into his Five-Day Intermediate Cold Wax & Oil Workshop —June 22, 23, 24, 26 & 27.

Over five days, you’ll work hands-on with layering, texture, color, composition, and creative risk. You’ll begin with technique studies on oil paper, then move into a larger cradled-panel painting where you’ll have time to explore, respond, adjust, and let the work develop.

This workshop is about learning the process, trusting your instincts, and seeing what can happen when you give the painting room to surprise you.

Lori Austin Gallery is honored to announce a special fundraising event in support of Rancho Compasión — a nonprofit sanctuary based in Nicasio, California dedicated to compassion, rescue, and advocacy for farm animals.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon bringing together art, community, and philanthropy at the Lori Austin Gallery Annex in Santa Rosa.

Guests will enjoy:
• A showcase of contemporary African sculpture and regional artworks
• Wine, refreshments, and seasonal bites
• The opportunity to support a meaningful cause through art acquisitions and community giving

As part of this collaborative event, Lori Austin Gallery will donate 20% of all event sales proceeds directly to Rancho Compasión to support their ongoing mission and care for rescued animals.
