Had an excellent time talking to the Arrowhead Fly Fishers group about our backyard water - the Namekagon River - couple weeks ago. Arrowhead Fly Fishers has been active in fly fishing education and conservation in the northern MN area for decades and their membership is engaged and cares for the water they fish.

If you’re in the Madison, WI area and want an introduction to the Namekagon from the folks who live here, Stu will be giving his presentation to the Badger Fly Fishers on Wednesday 5/6 at the Thirsty Goat. Stu will talk about history and character of this unique river, as well as some of the great fishing opportunities it offers.

We are officially an dealer! Orvis has long been recognized as a leader in fly fishing gear and apparel, and we look forward to partnering with them into the future. In a time when it feels like service and quality may be sliding down the priority list for some brands, Orvis is holding to those principles for their dealers and customers, and they’re still family owned. They’ve also got a lot of exciting product coming out!

Look for another announcement coming about an Orvis demo day at the shop this summer to help our customers get to know the brand and what it’s all about!

Weather has been up and down in the Hayward early season to this point, but when the window opens up, it does so in a real nice way. Water levels are beautiful right now and the rivers have a perfect Northwoods color to them.

New bug getting some play - Bubba’s In The Zone Stone, size 8.

We had over 80 people in attendance last night, which means we raised some good $ for so thanks to all who came and enjoyed the films! As always, thanks to and their volunteers for being such a great host venue. And thanks to our friend for donating a beautiful brown trout and bronze back combo on our big raffle prize of the evening. Fun times!
