๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ“ฌ๐Ÿ–จ๐Ÿ’ปGetting Etsy orders packaged today...remembering when I started selling on FB in 2013, and finally starting my Etsy in 2014. I haven't been sewing as much lately, but life has been crazy. Moving/my surgery last year/Ryan traveling again/pulling the girls from public school to home etc etc etc. I'm also selling off or giving away 90% of my quilting cottons. I'm gonna start moving more towards other ideas I've wanted to sew forever but had clients to sew for. Anyway, this little stamp helps me remember where I started. I've always used quality supplies that are gonna last a lifetime. I use designer thread, designer/vintage/antique/organic fabrics only, have really specific line work etc. But moving forward I'm gonna reinvent myself a bit. I wanna get more into natural dyes etc. It's kind if selfish hahah. Because so many people do love the prints that I put together. But, I'm gonna do some selfish sewing for a while I think. See how that goes for my creative flow!๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ–จ๐Ÿ“ฌ๐Ÿ“ฆ

๐Ÿ˜ญโœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ“ฌ๐Ÿ›ซOk, this post is hitting me in the feels. SO MANY times we see ppl post negative reviews on here. It makes you mindless bla bla bla. BUT before Xmas I found out that Ryan knew Marines that had lost their lives in the kc130/f18 crash on the coast of Japan, I knew these families were going to struggle, & need some warmth & comfort. Warmth & comfort to me is easy, I LOVE quilts/blankets/throws etc. They're all over my home, I make them as well. It's a literal representation of warmth. I also buy as much handmade as I can. It takes that love, hard work, & dedication the maker put into the item & sprinkles that joy into YOUR home! I decided to reach out to some women that I've interacted with for years on Instagram (quilting, sewing, handmade, small business etc) to see if we could come together & send these families something truly unique & comforting. I worked closely with a coordinator in Cali to get the number of kids, wives, & parents of the fallen. I got my numbers & put out my feelers! To my surprise/amazement/awe...ALL of the moms/wives/ AND children soon had quilts๐Ÿ˜ข. I also had other items donated specifically for the moms/wives (baskets are being formed in Cali that these items will be added to!). This stack of quilts represent 7 women's love & giving spirit. They DID NOT ask for the recognition of this post, they DID NOT ask for thanks or a handclap...BUT they DID offer their handmade work/time/shipping costs etc to give these families some light at this really dark time in their lives. The wives of the fallen are living my worst nightmare. That's why I wanted to help, offer anything, because the c130 community is small & tightknit. I have a personal connection to the cause, these ladies don't. THIS is what makes their gifts of love even more special! I have other ppl wanting to send items, so I'm gonna get this 1st box sent out this week, & keep sending as more donations come in. But as a 1st shipment...my expectations were surpassed by 1000x. THIS is my IG. THIS is why I continue to be on social media & interact with ppl I've never even met in the real world!๐Ÿ›ซ๐Ÿ“ฌ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ“โœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ˜ญ

๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ›๐Ÿ’ค๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ“ฎEven though I'm not feeling at 100% (we all got the plague or something again hahaha) I got quite a few things listed in my Etsy today. This is one of the sets that I posted. I've been collecting them for YEARS, bought from other vendors and serious collectors etc. But I have to get realistic about how many vintage sheets and we can use! (Hint...160 isn't the right amount...and that's what I have๐Ÿคฆ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ). These babies all need to find new homes, with other families that can appreciate their perfection. This is my only full sheet set (4 pillow cases- 2 reg, 2 accent standard sized, flat and fitted sheet) that I am willing to part with. But I do have some others with various flat sheet sizes, pillow cases in all colors/shapes/sizes etc. I even listed some fabrics too. I'll be adding more of that soon. I literally have 8 bins of fabric in my garage...it's a little excessive hahaha! But today I was focusing on vintage goodies. I have over 100 as well ๐Ÿ˜ณ...literally so many posts could go into the amazing things I've found/bought/been given over these years. But I am gonna treat them all with the respect due to their awesomeness and see if I can let then sail away to new homes. My Etsy is linked in my profile, keep an eye out cause I'm gonna keep adding items all this week! ๐Ÿ“ฎ๐Ÿ’ป๐Ÿ’ค๐Ÿ›๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒน๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿƒ

๐ŸŽ…๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿญ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿฌโœโœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“โ˜•Welp I broke out my today and got 2 little Christmas coffee cozies done (along with the wooden bead strand๐Ÿ˜‚)! My neighbor gf is a new teacher, and I keep telling her she needs to get some hokey teacher stuff that will make the kids laugh...like a vest...with holiday buttons and iron ons๐Ÿ˜‚. She's not totally on board with that yet...YET! But a fun bubble cutesy cozy will have to do. The cozies I make are made with 2 layers of my white organic flannel as the heat protection/insulation, designer fabrics (I can literally use ANY fabric combos), heavy duty/industrial 1/4in elastic, designer , and vintage/antique buttons from my personal collection. When purchased you also receive a free reusable hot Starbucks coffee cup with the cozy. My cozies also fit a travel mug (pictured), throw away disposable cup (pictured), the new Starbucks reusable cups hot (pictured) OR cold, and glass mugs depending on the size of the handle and circumference of the glass. They work well for cold cups too, the fabrics wick the condensation from the cup when it sweats. They are machine washable AND you can dry on low heat. Because everything is all cotton it will wash and dry at the same rate, if you wanna get really fancy you can iron it again after washing. That's what I do before shipping them or applying them to cups. I made an extra, so I think I might list one in my etsy!โ˜•๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“โœ‚๏ธโœ๐Ÿฌ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿญ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸŽ…

โœ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“โœ‚๏ธ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿ’ป๐ŸคฒA little snippet of my all time fav quilt that I've made (made for one of girls). We decided to go full throttle, use so many colors/patterns/textures to get the best quilt possible. We used almost an entire line to fulfill this look. This is a visual representation of my creativity and hard work. Anyway, the point of this post is that I have been taking a little sabbatical from sewing this last year while we move, get settled in our new home etc. I've also been a little discouraged as a maker. The handmade community went into shambles a while back. I watched beautiful makers turn into hateful people over politics, money, copying, cheating business practices, & greed. I was a part of a few different handmade communities because of the work that I did, & it being so versatile...so I saw a few communities in a new ugly light. Because of these things, I have been trying to decide what I want to do with my creative life. Am I gonna quilt again? Will I ever take custom clients again? Will I just stick to smaller cheaper items, because larger more expensive luxury items don't sell as well? These were all questions that I have been asking myself for months. But recently I got a new injection of creativity, the urge to sew again, & the opportunity to branch out as a maker. Not even sticking just to quilts, but to use my gifts in a whole new way. I am going to work my hardest & keep this creative momentum going, I'm going to forget all of the negative experiences & people, I am going to make my new goals a reality. Hopefully in coming months I can take yall on my new journey. I told yall 2019 was gonna be a big year๐Ÿ˜‰. I'm so glad that I have yall on the ride with me. Been a while since I updated yall on here! Sorry about that. I had a lot going on this spring and summer. But hopefully I'll be back in the swing of making again here soon. Prob smaller items for a while, just because space here is limited for me to sew. But the girls all have their own rooms in this new house hahah. So that's a good thing. But the trade off is I lost a sewing room. I'll keep yall updated on new thingsssss! Xoxo

๐ŸŽ…๐ŸŽ‹๐ŸฆŒ๐Ÿญ๐ŸŽ„๐ŸŽโ›„Now that Christmas shopping is in full swing, here are some of my all time fav makers. All of these women are pretty fantastic. I either own their work, have seen them at handmade shows, seen them on here for years etc. But I have work from 98% of these women. I love shopping handmade and small business as much as possible. You really can impact a person and their life when you buy their art. So here are some of my favs! Y'all need to all post your favs too. So we can all see who you shop with, what shops are worth the hype, what shop was the best at customer service etc. Then we can all start making xmas lists from similar small business sellers. . So from dolls, critters, prints, home decor, clothing these ladies pretty much do it all! โ›„๐ŸŽ๐ŸŽ„๐Ÿญ๐ŸฆŒ๐ŸŽ‹๐ŸŽ…

I am still here guys! I am almost a month post op, so I haven't been doing any creating...just trying to rest and heal. Those who know me and how active I am... knows how hard it is for me to rest hahaha. But I wanted to check in with yall and give this Memorial Day post. Xx๐Ÿƒโš˜โšฐ๐ŸŒ„๐Ÿ•ฏ๐Ÿƒโš˜๐Ÿ”ดโšช๐Ÿ”ต๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ"In Flanders Field the poppies blow between the crosses, row on row..." "...We are the dead. Short days ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, loved and were loved, and now we lie in Flanders Fields..." ~ John McCrae.....let's all have an amazing Memorial Day weekend, but also not forget what Memorial Day really is about. 1868 marked a time after the Civil War where the nation decided to honor our fallen from EVERY war, past and present in a ceremony each year (last Monday of May because it wasn't significant for one particular battle) and we have kept that tradition sacred all these years. Originally known as Decoration Day, we place flowers and flags on the plots of our lost, Arlington National Cemetery is usually what most people remember seeing...a field of simple head stones and so many flags. Even if you don't personally know a fallen man or women in uniform, maybe go to a cemetery where there are military graves and honor those lost to us. We actually have a ceremony here that puts out a boot with a flag inside for each person lost from this base (USMC Air Station Cherry Point), Camp Lejeune also has one etc.....y'all would be surprised to see how many boots volunteers set out, it's kind of heartbreaking. Something simple...but very touching to people like me that live military 24/7....and have the fear of losing a husband/family member to war. Take a second this weekend to be thankful that you're here, "feeling dawn"...seeing the "sunset glow"....loving....and being loved. Memorial Day is to remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice/their life for our freedoms, NOT the ones who are fighting now for those same freedoms. Still be happy and celebrate beautiful long weekend, but be mindful as well. Xoxo Samantha๐ŸŒŸ๐ŸŒŸ๐Ÿ”ดโšช๐Ÿ”ตโš˜๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ•ฏ๐ŸŒ„โšฐโš˜๐Ÿƒ

๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿ’Š๐ŸฅOk y'all. Getting really personal here (even more so than nornal๐Ÿ˜‚). There will be BIG things happening in the Dayton house in less than 1m. I've been MIA a bit this year for our move, and I'm so sorry. But now I am gonna be destashing a TON of my fabrics, notions, last remaining quilts etc here soon. Because If y'all have been following me for a while, you will know that in 2013 I was diagnosed with spinal ostioarthritis, spinal stenosis, & sciatica (sciatica comes & goes depending on how much physical activity I'm doing). I also have a protruding c5 disc in my neck. I have been a pain management patient since then. I've had injections/shots/patches/oral meds/creams etc etc etc. I've put my body through the ringer doing every treatment available for my chronic conditions. Y'all also know that I started having babies when I was just a baby myself. Being a teen mom I got a minor diastasis issue, but after 2 more babies I have a 4in separation in my abdominal muscles after 3 pregnancies. The abdominal issues make all of my back issues even worse. So on the 3rd of May I'll be getting an extended abdominalplasty with muscle repair. I've wanted this surgery for YEARS, but our insurance won't cover it. We are at the place now in life that we aren't having more babies (Ryan got a vasectomy when I was 8m pregnant with Clara) we are more financially stable, we are back home in NC...it's perfect timing. We are gonna go in, pay for it ourselves, make our OWN life CHANGING moment. Obviously it is gonna change me physically (I have a pretty sweet 5in flap of Mommy skin on my stomach๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜ณ lmfao), but more than that we are all hoping that my chronic spine issues will be less painful (go from a 6 pain level to a 3 daily๐Ÿคž) I've had so much support from my friends & family. Y'all send all of your positive vibes over the next few weeks while I plan for the surgery, AND keep an eye out for some pretty awesome sales coming soon on items I have in stock. I'm a HUGE advocate for the mother's role in the family, if Mama is happy and healthy; the whole family will thrive. This is gonna change our entire future.๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ’Š๐Ÿ’‰

๐Ÿ’๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒผSuper jealous that I can't be in this show again this year!!! I do NOT miss the Ohio weather hahaha, or drives to come back home to visit family etc. BUT I did get the amazing opportunity to participate in Feather Your Nest large handmade/vintage/fest Vintage & Made Market last year. I was looking back at pictures, remembering how many sellers/makers I got to meet those 2 days. This experience was for sure one of my all time favs. I'm still gonna try and convince Caitlyn and her Mama to maybe do a southern Vintage & Made Market๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Š. Maybe some of my fav sellers I met there ( ( you to but at the Yellow Door sale!!! Hahah) etc) will be on board too๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ hahaha. This is me grasping at straws lol. I think NC would love an event like this. Basically, if y'all aren't following these people you should be, and if you live in the Lanchaster area you should FOR SURE go to this event...again...so jelly.๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’

UPDATE! My gf loved the quilt!!! The ladies pictured (minus one gma) were the ones that picked out the fabric that I used for Sadie's quilt. You can still go check out their fb page for her and learn more about her rare diagnosis. Xoxo๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’ I finished working on what may be the most important quilt I've ever made. Most of my followers know my gf story, on my feed I have many posts. Well when we go to have our children, we often worry if we will have a normal pregnancy, if the baby will be healthy or smart, lose their way as adults etc. There are so many things to worry about as parents. But my gf and her family were hit with medical shocks one after another in having their baby girl/only child 2yrs ago (she is at a very pivotal age now in her diagnosis, we are all hoping that she can be chosen as a medical trial patient, more information on their page). Their family has been so amazing in raising awareness for their daughter's rare diagnosis (Sanfilippo Syndrome), & have been an inspiration to watch. I've done a small fundraiser (we had some amazing IG shops donate items! Scroll down my feed to see those items & beautiful ladies that helped us out) I've made small things here & there for them...BUT I wanted to give the whole family the opportunity to make their mark on her quilt gift. This quilt is gonna be even more special now because Sadie Rae's family chose fabrics that remind them of HER & how amazing she is in their eyes. We chose a ton of & more for this quilt & they match beautifully! This will allow Ashley to always have something for Sadie that was picked by her favorite people. I feel honored that they are letting me make this for them. & I'm happy that my idea has grown into a beautiful quilt, on its way to being an all time favorite! Check out their page Saving Sadie Rae: Cure Sanfilippo for more information on their family, fight to find a cure, disease facts and more. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿ’œ

Hi guys!!! I have NOT forgotten about you. I finally almost have my whole house unpacked, decorated etc. That means I can finally make it to the garage and take fabric stock. I will give you a sneak peek on my next business venture. I feel like I may step away from bedding for a bit, 5yrs of bedding has been fun but I also want a change. I really want to make matching girls clothing. Y'all have heard me say how impossible it is to find clothing for my girls and their age differences. So I'm in the process of trying to figure my next business plan out. I miss sewing so much. And I don't have a sewing room in this house. So clothing would be a better option for me in this season of our life. Give me some feed back! I am gonna use all natural materials (linen, muslins etc) if I do decide on clothing. How do y'all feel about skirts? I don't do detailed dresses. I love a good clean simple pattern. But it will all still be boutique and handmade.
