Ma's Got'a Notion

It was a few weeks ago that Tina Henderson pieced this top for the shop. I
got around to quilting it before I took medical leave, made a scrappy binding, and bound it all up for your piecing pleasure!
You can see there are creases in the quilt because it has lain folded up until my guy Will got the ladder out and got a few down and some up, and some just moved around per Deb's directions!
Honestly, you have to see this one in person...I sold the first one right out of the shoot when my customer saw it; yes, it's that fun!

The fabrics are Benartex Christmas line, which just reads Winter!

Just before I went on medical leave, I cut up this quilt and gave it to Henderson to make the sample. I cut up a bunch of kits, and Deb got them sacked up today! They are ready for your piecing pleasure!
As soon as we get the sample back, I will repost so you can see the pattern I chose really does lend itself to it!!!

I have been rocking this knee surgery...up until, I wasn't!!!
I did not know there was a honeymoon period...
On Tue. morning, day 6, I woke up with apparently an amputated leg during the night, and there was an elephant's leg sewn in its place!!!
My leg was (still is) about 2.5 times its normal size!
I stayed aggravated with it all day Tuesday. Wed. I went to PT, but the therapist felt my doc should take a look.
So off I went this a.m.; my boy took me to Peoria. There was no choice but for the doc to remove the surgical bandage. Those who know me know that my old skin is very thin and fragile.
The swelling caused my skin to fracture, and blisters formed in the fractured area. Of course, the hide and all came off with the bandage! Ouch, now it's all raw skin.
I am to keep the bandages dry and change them out as they get dirty during the day.
And to ice, ice, ice...which I have faithfully done.
Elevation and continued PT.
As a precautionary measure, they did a Doppler to rule out blood clots (none thankfully). And prescribed an antibiotic too.
I go to PT tomorrow (Doc was still pleased with how well I can bend it)...but it's a struggle; with the swelling, it is like twice the weight to move in the PT exercises!
Ok, I will quit whining...I will dance again one day, just not as gracefully as I once did!🤣

Here I am at day 5, and although the "joint" is stiff and swollen, there is very little pain. I have PT today, and I think my ROM is down some today. I believe the joint is the most swollen it has been so far. The gal in PT may be a bit disappointed in me today; I think when I go through the routine for her, she may say..." oh my, you have regressed."
Those who have been down this road tell me the first 2 weeks are the ones to live through; after that, well, it's after that!
I go to PT 3 times a week, so that gives me 2 more times this week to get it right!!!🤣
Just glad they are not asking me to ride a bike or do somersaults!!!

Well, I have passed the 3-day mark. I feel so blessed; I have no pain at all!!! My muscles where my leg had to be manipulated are the only thing sore.
I have kept ice on it, and I am doing my exercises too. I think I just may live to tell the tale!!!
Went to my first PT today, and I am at 90% in the bending of my knee. So all in all, this old stale cookie will waddle out in the near future! 😂
