A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck offshore near Sarangani, Southern Mindanao on June 8, 2026.
According to PHIVOLCS, the earthquake was tectonic in origin and occurred along the Cotabato Trench at a depth of approximately 33 kilometers. Strong shaking was felt across parts of Mindanao, with aftershocks expected in the coming days and weeks.
Initial reports indicate damage to buildings and infrastructure in parts of Mindanao, with government agencies continuing rescue, assessment, and response efforts.
