Spinney will open at sunrise on Friday April 3, 2026. It will open to hand launch non motorized boats only.

On April 6th 11 Mile will open to north shore boating and Spinney will open to motorized HAND launch thay same day.

North ramp at Spinney to open Friday, June 6, 2025

We have some exciting news!
As water levels at Spinney Mountain State Park have come up, we are finally able to open the North Boat Ramp! The Ramp will open for trailered launching Friday, June 6th.
As a reminder, Spinney Mountain State Park is open to boating from 1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset, with all users out of the park by 1 hour after sunset.
All motorized boats must receive an ANS Inspection prior to launching and when leaving. ANS Inspections will be available starting 1/2 hour before sunrise.

Spinney to open 1/2 hour before sunrise, to boating and shore fishing, Sunday, April, 28, 2024. Chaparral Park Campground is open. NO reservations needed. First come, first serve.

Hi all,

I am writing to inform you that we are planning on opening Spinney Mountain to both boating and shoreline use on Sunday, April 28th. We will be running normal hours (1/2 hour before sunrise to 1/2 hour after sunset for boating, with all users out of the park by an hour after sunset). Please see our social media channels (facebook and/or instagram) for a full announcement and let me know if you have any questions.

For those interested, we are monitoring Eleven Mile closely and will have a follow up here soon on its opening.

Update:
Warmer and windy weather has freed up some of winters grip at the reservoirs. Spinney still has some ice, but it is quickly receding. Keep an eye out for opening day announcement here soon.
Eleven Mile is still about 50% ice, but it is concentrated on the East end of the reservoir. It will more than likely open to boating after Spinney, but things are moving along nicely.
Shoreline fishing is completely accessible at North Shore, Stoll Mountain, Cross Creek, Suckers Cove and Howbert. These spots are subject to ice shifting/drifting, but should stay mostly open going forward. There is open shoreline pretty much entirely around the lake, so ice fishing season is done for the year.

Spinney Mountain State Park will open for the Season on Friday, April 21, 2023 at 5:47 a.m. - Sunrise is at 6:17 a.m. Due to low water level, it is be open to shoreline fishing and hand launch vessels only.

All Boat Ramps at Spinney are closed for the season due to low water levels. Hand Launch vessels only.​ Motors will be allowed after going through boat inspections through October 31st. Up next....... ice fishing at Eleven Mile!
