If you want to follow along with the baby skunk saga!

I’m very upset with the family that brought me this baby skunk. Not because they did anything wrong— they saved his life!— but because the very sweet little boy in the family told me that this skunk and his brother are named Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr.

Both skunks were unconscious when they got here, but things happen inside my head while other things happen for real. When this child said, “Aaron Burr,” I kept the response, “Give us a verse, drop some knowledge!” all to myself. Now, a few hours later, I have refuted the farmer, been helpless, toasted the groom and bride, defeated the British, argued with (and as) Thomas Jefferson, had my life destroyed by the Reynolds pamphlet, grieved my husband, and told the audience about opening an orphanage. It’s been a busy afternoon.

While at it, I worked to resuscitate Aaron Burr and Alexander Hamilton, who were near death at arrival due to very low blood sugar and dehydration. True to their names, Hamilton didn’t make it. Burr has survived and is now fully responsive and able to eat on his own. However, he denies allegations that he was responsible for Hamilton’s death.

Thank you to the lovely family who helped these babies and our supporters who make their care possible. We know Aaron Burr has great things ahead of him and he’ll get along great with our other skunks his age after quarantine.

Please commemorate Alexander Hamilton the skunk with your own inner or outer Broadway performance.
