It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of longtime NARMC volunteer, Lavone Fowler, on June 6th.

Lavone faithfully served North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for more than 17 years, beginning her volunteer journey in 2008. She was a cherished member of our volunteer family whose kindness, generosity, and servant's heart touched countless lives.

Lavone and her husband, Frank, shared an extraordinary 73 years of marriage. Together, they raised four children and opened their home to others in need, including helping raise Frank's two youngest siblings after the loss of his mother. Her life was a beautiful example of compassion, selflessness, and love for others.

Many knew and loved Lavone through her service at the NARMC Thrift Store, where she enjoyed spending time with fellow volunteers, customers, and staff. Her warm smile, caring spirit, and unwavering dedication will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Lavone leaves behind a remarkable legacy through her family, including eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Please join us in keeping Frank and the entire Fowler family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Lavone will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her NARMC family.

Additional service information will be shared as it becomes available.

Volunteer Appreciation Week, celebrated April 19th–25th, was a dedicated time for us to say thank you to the incredible volunteers who give their time, compassion, and energy to our hospital and community. To celebrate, we hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Banquet with a 1920s “Golden Years — Golden Hearts” theme.

Our guests arrived in their best 1920s attire, ready for an evening filled with great food, music, and plenty of laughter. Western Sizzlin’ served a delicious meal of roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, rolls, and a walnut salad. NARMC Food and Nutrition Services offered chocolate layered cake and lemon meringue pie for dessert. Sweet Honey added to the fun with specialty coffee drinks like the Bee’s Knees latte, the Roaring Roast, and the Vanilla Velvet Brew, which were a hit with guests of all ages.

The Earth Bone Band kept the energy high with live performances of favorite throwback songs that had everyone clapping, dancing, and singing along. To top it all off, guests took home adorable golden heart pens as a keepsake. Heather Fitzgerald’s balloon décor tied everything together, bringing a festive and elegant touch to the evening.

A huge thank you goes out to everyone who helped bring this night to life. From planning and decorating to serving and cleanup, you made the evening truly special. And to our amazing volunteers: you are the heart of what we do. Your time, energy, and care make a real difference every day, and we are so grateful for each of you. You’re the cat’s meow, and we couldn’t do it without you!

THANK YOU! 💙

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Vonda Lee Butler on January 23, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 88. She passed peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones.

Vonda lived a life full of love, compassion, and generosity. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and she brought joy and warmth to everyone she met.

She dedicated many years to serving others, including her long-time volunteer work and service as an auxiliary member at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center. She also loved traveling, hosting friends and family, playing games, and creating lasting memories with those she loved.

In honor of her wishes, Vonda’s remains will be spread in Harrison, Arkansas, the weekend of April 25, 2026. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
