Well this is awkward. As you may have noticed, I’ve been silent on this account for awhile. I had a health setback and spent a week in the hospital recently. I’m home recuperating and feeling stronger every day. But because my health is my first priority I will be pausing operations indefinitely.

I’m still in love with my concept and the outpouring of support my business received the past few months was amazing, but I must prioritize. Thank you for your understanding.

Packing my dine al fresco bag for dinner at Cork & Fork Harrisburg tonight. The reason for their al fresco snow globes is a sad one but I can’t help but feel a bit of romanticism in them. Excited to have a date night with Lou in what seems like forever while still feeling safe.

Many businesses are hurting right now, restaurants in particular. The time-limited mitigation orders will be lifted soon but the pandemic still looms large. I encourage everyone to do what you can, at a level you feel comfortable with, whether it’s dining al fresco, buying gift cards to be used at a later date or supporting Food for the Fight which supports local restaurants AND rewards our frontline healthcare workers.

My bag is packed but I still have 3 hours to go. Can you tell I’m excited?

Their mission: We stand to combat homelessness among Veterans by providing support and services needed to promote an empowered life filled with strength and purpose.

I will be donating $1 per bag sold in December to this wonderful organization.

Contactless pickup can be arranged for Cumberland, Dauphin and Perry counties. Order by 12/22 for pickup by 12/24.

Lou says I’m a horrible business person because I keep giving money away. Guilty - helping others brings me joy. In addition to $1 per bag to Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania in December, I will donate $3 each for the first 50 dine al fresco bags sold to Food for the Fight. This fundraiser gives two-fold. It purchases gift certificates to local restaurants and will give to them UPMC Pinnacle and Penn State Hershey (my personal heroes) healthcare workers. Check out their profile for more information! Still looking for a gift? There is still time to order.

The post office is recommending First-Class mail go out by Dec 18 (single tote) and Priority Mail (two or more totes) by Dec 19 but we are seeing some delays which is why I recommended the 10th to guarantee delivery. I am working hard to ship totes the day after an order is received.

It didn’t take long to choose an organization for December’s donation. Veterans Outreach of Pennsylvania, is a 501c3 created by two people with the biggest hearts I know, Tom and Lisa Zimmerman. It’s mission is to build a tiny home community for homeless veterans right here in Harrisburg. It quickly garnered support, with others jumping on board. Now it’s our turn. I will donate $1 for every bag purchased in December to VOPA. You don’t need to stop there though. Check out their website to see what more you can do. www.veteransoutreachofpa.org

Like today, December 7, 2015 was a sunny Monday. It was also the day I was diagnosed with cancer. Soon after, I would adopt the mantra “Get busy living” and I’ve been following it ever since. The pandemic may have slowed down my volunteerism but it didn’t stop my desire to help others in any way possible. As the idea for this tote bag business developed, I knew charity had to be part of it. I decided to donate $1 per tote bag sold. Thanks to your support of this fledgling little ‘side hustle’ I’ve just made a $100 donation to .
