Rachel's Vineyard began as a supervised agricultural experience (SAE) through FFA. Rachel began planning this project in 2011 with the assistance of her parents, who already owned and operated their own vineyard. Rachel borrowed the money to plant her vineyard and began this process in 2012, when she was only 14 years old. In May 2014, Rachel's Vineyard also invested in an industrial grade slushi

e machine and sells muscadine grape cider slushies at various events throughout NC. Rachel's Vineyard has grapes for sale in late summer and sells 100% muscadine grape juice and other muscadine products throughout the year. Did you know that while some people refer to bronze grapes as Scuppernong and black grapes as Muscadine, Scuppernong is actually a variety (or cultivar) of Muscadine? There are more than 100 different cultivars of Muscadine grapes in varying sizes and shades.

So whether you prefer bronze or black grapes, both have been restocked at Harrells Store!

Meet Rachel.

If you're following this page, chances are you know her.

She started Rachel's Vineyard as a part of her Supervised Agricultural Experience as an FFA member in 2012. She does a little bit of everything- but far from it all.

She's really proud when she successfully propagates a vine and loves having picnics in the vineyard. She's the slowest picker on the team, but she's an asset when it comes to quality control. She loves getting messages from customers about how they've used her product in recipes or receiving pictures of the jelly people have preserved from her grapes.

Meet Matt (or the husband).

Matt is a fairly new addition to the team. He and Rachel got married in May. We've heard through the grapevine he's been spotted w**d eating the vineyard as far back as 7 years ago though. He handles a lot of the heavy, hard, or dirty work. If it requires getting covered in mud or lifting more than Rachel weighs- Matt is probably involved. He also loves all things farm equipment, so if it means he gets to drive a tractor he's happy.

Meet Sidney (or Dad).

Sidney owns a 15 acre vineyard right across the street from Rachel's Vineyard. He's taught Rachel most of what she's learned about grapes and continues to be her mentor. While he was there for the last decade of vineyard management, he tries to leave most of that to Matt and Rachel now.

Now you'll find him running any errands that have to happen during business hours. He's a great manager and supports Rachel wherever she needs help. Rachel & Sidney's current big project is creating a checklist that covers vineyard maintenance and harvest procedures throughout the year. The duo are avid checklist users, and are going to make a great team at this endeavor.

Susan has been an integral part of the team from the start. She helps cover all things accounting and finance. Her attention to detail also makes her a great part of our quality control team. From printing labels to reconciling, she's helped Rachel with the business side of things for the last decade.

Heading into grape season, the Rachel's Vineyard crew is grateful for one more set of hands as Matt became a permanent part of the team. Rachel and Matt got married in May, and the vineyard made its appearance in some of the photos. They even had custom muscadine grape jelly as favors for their wedding guests.

In the coming weeks expect to see more glimpses of Rachel & crew tackling grape season! If you're local & looking for a bulk order of grapes, shoot us a message.
