Who knew there was such a good day? I have a fabric machine too, but the real heroes of my shop are these cobra machines!
In the order of acquisition:
1. Class 4–the big dawg I got to sew sandals….first few pair were by hand—how did I ever? It has since made over 200 pair of sandals!
2. 5550-Boot top roller foot. Got after I took an inlay class taught by Dustin who makes the most amazing boots. Didn’t use it much for a while, and then did lots of watch bands with it and now it does a lot of decorative boot-style stitching on bags and stuff.
3. Class 26–easily the most-used machine in the shop! Also the one that gets out of timing if I look at it the wrong way! It sews bags, book covers, wallets, shoe uppers…lots of stuff!
4. 29-18 patcher—thought I would use it a lot for hey dudes and converse…and have some, but not as much as I had thought. It kinda thinks different than the other machines. It has sewn patches on a few letter jackets!
5. Class 18–creeping up on the 26 as the one that sees the most action! Flatbed is great for books, journals, bags, and straps. Fun fact—couldn’t use it for almost a year right after I got it due to the wrong needles being installed on it and getting so far outta whack I couldn’t use it. But the Leather Machine Company has THE best service and got me all fixed up at the next leather show!
