Working on a cedar call today. Slate friction surface with an aluminum sound board. Kind of a test to see what kind of sound I can get out of it. I’ll post a video later today if the finished product along with a little sample of the sound of all goes right

This is a call I turned out a few weeks ago for a friend. Purple Heart sure makes some pretty calls. It can be a little tricky to work with, but when it’s finished it has a color like no other wood.

Check out this multiple wood call I just finished up for a customer today. Cherry, maple, and walnut call, slate striking surface and wooden sound board. Haven’t done any surfacing since I prefer to let the customer season the surface the way they want. I did hit it with a striker a few times, and it has a nice mellow sound, that should really bring an old Tom running next season.
