When I was 26 years old, I made my first diaper bag with baby Jonah growing inside me. Next week, I turn 40 and baby Jonah will leave my nest in 5 short years. So much growth and change and experiences have happened in the last 14 years. And Better Life Bags has been at the core of all of it. Always there.

For the past year or so, I’ve felt a nudge that my time at BLB was done. That, coupled with the declining economy and my sheer exhaustion from carrying a business and family through a pandemic, I’ve decided to shut Better Life Bags down. I did not land at this decision lightly or overnight. I’ve cried hard over these words and feel shaky as I write them. My heart is pounding. I’ve tried to explore every opportunity to keep BLB going for the next generations (I wanted to hand this business down to my kids), but ultimately shutting it down was the decision I’ve come to over and over again.

I have met so many incredible women - customers and seamstresses and fellow business owners who have walked this journey alongside me. I will remember every single person who has commented here, messaged me personally, been to the workshop or shopped at a warehouse sale.

The next months are going to be strange and I’m a little unsure how they will play out exactly. We will take custom Design Your Own orders through the end of March (taking down leather and fabrics as we run out) and then make Ready to Ship bags with the leftover materials through May. I’ll likely open the workshop a few Saturdays in April and May for mini warehouse sales (and you can always come in during the week while we are there), but then we will be done. And a huge chapter in lots of our lives will close.

I can’t thank you all enough for writing this chapter with me. But as every good book does, this one is ending, too. It’s a story I hope you’ll hold close to your chest after the last page is turned and be overwhelmed with happiness and satisfaction that you helped make the world a better place for lots of women.

I will forever be grateful and honored to have been given this opportunity to run Better Life Bags. Thank you for doing it alongside me. ❤️
