For clients with Piano Life Saver Systems, dont forget to call your technician as soon as the red light goes on.

The green light should be on at all times, indicating proper use. The Yellow light reminds you to fill your humidifyer. The red light however, needs to be addressed by your technician or someone trained to replace the humidifyer pads.

There is always someone with (just enough knowlege to be dangerous) I have a client with a wonderful Steinway Mod L for sale that has been in her house since it was new! She has had it up for sale (19K) and people come in to look at it.

I went there yesterday and it appears someone felt one of the bass strings had a little (ring to it). There is a technight where you can take a tech tool called a string puller, and pry one of the strings a tad and stop any ringing due to one string being a little higher than its corresponding string.

However, whoever did this (out of her eyesigt) did so with a screw driver and the agraffe broke and he never told her. And since she never plays it, she did not know until I got there. Brass parts like this do not just randomly pop.

She will now make sure she does not leave the room when someone comes to look at her piano.

Everyone, do everyone who loves pianos a favor. Im sure your piano teacher, or friend, or family memeber know a little about pianos, but when you want to know something about an instrument that costs this much, call a trained technician!

Thank God I was trained and knew what to do to fix this issue. Had i not been carefull in removing this agraffe it could have turned into real mess with the threads stuck inside the plate!

The nicest musician I ever mat? VERY easy answer: Wynton Marsalis.

I have a friend that has doen time in prison (his name shall remain anonamous for his privacy). But he is also a musician and he asked me at the time to come into the prison and help with a jazz program. That same friend wrote Wynton and asked him to come and meet the prison band. He did with NO fanfare or press of his own, he was obviously not doing it for publicity. However, many in the prison were. A long line of so called dignitaries were present from the Mayor all the way down. I felt at the time, how rediculous it all was. After shaking way too many hands, Mr Marsalis skipped over all the others and simply asked to meet my friend. THE CONVICT!!! I knew imediately, this man was special.

When we gathered in the music room, he was not about show biz and pumping himself up! NO, he was there for the men. He had them play a song for him. He then approached every instrument from Bass to drums and others. He gave each musician a little tip on what their purpose in a band is and demonstrated it on their instruments. I had no idea he knew that many instruments. This man was truly a GEM of a person with the heart of a servant. I got his autograph of course but he was not really about that.

You can learn an awful lot about a so called "star" in any field when you see how they treat people that many would ignorantly call "beneath them".

Wynton will go down in my book as one of the best in not only music but also for his humility and the person he is!
