Another project completed this week. 100 year old Estey grand player action. This piano has a pneumatic roll player that is mounted below the keybed, which allows for the same ease of action servicing as regular grand. Can’t say that about Steinway Duo-Art! The action was in poor shape, some of the front key pins had so much rust on them that they did not move at all. The whole thing was cleaned, new white key tops installed, keyboard blasted, regulated, hammers resurfaced. Going back in the piano tomorrow. 😀

This Steinway and Sons model M got a nice tuning and is getting some action service and voicing.

Today’s work: 1933 Knabe grand piano action. Ivory cleaned and polished, keyboard cleaned, blasted with super fine abrasive, lubricated and regulated. Top action stack cleaned. All pins and capstans polished. And a few other nice touches😀! The instrument will play and sound really well!

This Knabe grand was left over by previous owners in a home that was renovated. My client decided to make the piano play again. The piano received a pitch correction, the whole action cleaned and lubricated, hammers filed and voiced, resin was injected into the pinblock to restore tuning stability. I also bead blasted the key sticks, installed new key tops and cleaned the soundboard and case. After this budget friendly reconditioning the piano plays again and has a nice tone!
