Peel & Heal Studio

Peel & Heal Studio Hand-drawn wellness stickers & self-care stationery designed to support your plot-twisted plans. And thus, Peel and Heal Studio was born!

I have had a planner for many years but for me, decorative planning quickly became a therapeutic activity. As an individual in recovery (from eating disorders, anxiety, depression, OCD, and self harm), I was frustrated with the lack of planner stickers that related to mental health and general well-being. My goal is to provide you with unique hand-drawn designs that you can't find anywhere else. S

econdly, I want to promote conversation and awareness of mental health issues in our community. I hope that in using my stickers, customers can reflect on the importance of taking "me time" and prioritizing mental wellness as the foundation to achieving your goals. If you ever have any questions regarding my creative process, please feel free to reach out! Thanks so much for checking out Peel and Heal Studio. Wishing you health and happiness always! -Haley

The fears we don't face become our limits.

So I'm adding things to my planner that'll help me face mine.

It's nothing monumental... just an afternoon of work in a coffee shop once a week. It's just a conversation with a cashier. Just a sunlit watercolor session. A single click "send" on a freelance project application. The choice to answer a text message. It's just a few moments browsing local social events. Just a Pinterest board of future dreams, and the first new image saved to it in 3 years. It's a choice to answer a ringing phone. Putting on clothes that aren't sweats... not because I HAVE to, but because I choose to.

I choose to do the hard things.
I choose imperfect action over complacency.
I choose my future over my fear.
I choose to remove my own limits.

So tell me, friends...do you relate? Will you join me in facing your fears? In doing it despite being afraid? 💖

It goes a little something like this...

🛒You shop at Peel & Heal Studio for stocking stuffers, journal supplies, and planner stickers.
↪️I earn an income despite chronic illness, giving me gas money to get to a local therapist weekly.
↪️My therapist is going to a cousin's wedding next weekend. She bought a hand-painted art piece for the bride & groom on Etsy.
↪️The Etsy seller sources her materials from a small art supply shop. She went viral on TikTok last month, so HER suggestion for folks to visit the store made a big impact on THEIR foot traffic.
↪️With more out-of-towners visiting, a nearby coffee shop also sees a revenue spike.
↪️The coffee shop needs help, so hires high schoolers part-time. The teens acquire lifelong career skills and form friendships with their coworkers that last for years.
↪️As adults, 2 of the baristas join forces to found a nonprofit aimed at increasing awareness of veteran PTSD. They win a state grant to support this effort and set up headquarters in their hometown, now planning to start families there.
↪️Meanwhile, the therapist has a child now with entrepreneurial dreams. His best friend's family runs the coffee shop, sparking his own vision of food trucks.
↪️The artist now makes a solid income, so can donate more time to the food pantry.
↪️The food pantry has a donation box at the library, which the artist picks up weekly. There, she sees a young mother adding cans to the bin.
↪️My customers continue feeling empowered to redefine "success". Among them is that small-town mom who starts sharing her photography online.
↪️Tackling depression alongside recent work success reduces my stress, improving chronic symptoms. Last time my health declined, I had to take disability leave and rely on tax dollars for emergency care, meds, and pay. I'm grateful my business allows me to afford therapy & avoid rock bottom.
↪️I hire the local photographer for headshots instead of using AI. The shoot bolsters her portfolio and I use the images in my new book, which the library is eager to support.

It's all connected, y'all ❤🙏🏽

Did you join us for the Homebody Challenge in December?

Each day, we focused on a single positive affirmation, each written based on a poem from "homebody" by the inspiring

I loved getting to write these self-love affirmations so mindfully, then share them daily with YOU alongside tips and stories and food for thought (oftentimes taken from my own self-love journey). Being able to tie together positive affirmations, stickers/journaling, poetry, and body peace? A dream come true in my books.

At the heart of Peel & Heal Studio has always been a very firm mission: wellness. But my designs and intentions aren't just about the surface level diet & exercise that we tend to confuse with "wellness".

I first learned about self-care when I entered intensive treatment for an eating disorder. And while mental health conversations have shifted more recently to the mainstream, we're a far way from prioritizing psychological wellbeing on the level I believe is truly necessary. Our bodies and minds work together, so to treat and care for just the *physical* aspects of humankind preventatively is NOT sustainable. No one should have to hit rock bottom before learning how to befriend themselves. So why do we reserve mental health skills like affirmations and thought reframing for only the most severely mentally ill? These are skills that are LIFE-CHANGING and can be taught at such a young age to give folks the tools they need to manage mental health before it ever spirals into a full-fledged crisis.

I'm not a mental health professional, nor is my content intended to replace specialized care. At the same time, normalizing mental health means bringing it transparently into the everyday spaces of life. [AHEM, OUR PLANNERS!] Self-love saved my life, so if one small tip from my survival story could make YOUR life more sustainable and more fulfilling? Totally worth it. YOU are worth it.

Let me know if you want more challenges, video content, and real-life self-care skill building like the Homebody Challenge from Peel & Heal Studio in the future! I'm all ears.

Happy belated Thanksgiving, friends! I spent the holiday with family from start to finish, but fell asleep before I managed to post or give updates on our Thanksgiving weekend plans at Peel & Heal 🤦‍♀️

That's been the tough balance I've been managing lately: trying to maintain a sense of normalcy & support by attending family stuff as usual...but inevitably, that means dealing with zapped energy & extra discomfort after...so my business plans fall by the wayside or get pushed back. It's hard to see this happen again & again, but I know I need to prioritize my mental health first and foremost as I trudge through months of topical steroid withdrawal syndrome.

Seeing so many gratitude posts yesterday made me think a lot. Right now, my nephews, sisters, and love from their pups is keeping me going. But I think it's really important to remember this when we practice gratitude (whether that means prayer, daily journaling, or something else):

Expressing gratitude isn't a practice meant to cancel out or invalidate our pain, grief, mental health struggles, or misfortune. The blessings in our days aren't the antidote to emotional hardship. Our blessings simply exist *alongside* the difficulties, not diminishing our pain but reminding us of the positive that somehow still exists despite the negative. And it's the combination: the ability to both acknowledge our pain as REAL & valid PLUS the capacity to objectively recognize small moments/sources of relief from that pain that gives us the strength to survive (and in time, slowly, learning to thrive again).

Gratitude doesn't dissolve pain. And it's not an appropriate solution to suggest when someone vulnerably shares their struggles. That said, gratitude IS a powerful tool. It gives us hope. It reminds us that things haven't always been as bad as they feel right now. And that our emotions will indeed change for the positive again. Gratitude gives us a little pile of decent things to cling to when life is especially tough.

Thankful for you, whether you've shopped at Peel & Heal Studio or are a silent supporter...🙏🏻 Stay tuned for tomorrow!
