We had a great book launch with Elise Scott on Tuesday in North Branford. If you missed it, you’re in luck! You can come meet Elise tomorrow and get your own signed copy of The Black Cat Detectives and the cutest kitten swag (giveaways include adorable origami black kittens and tiny buttons of your favorite kitten!).

I really enjoyed this book so I think everyone else will too. I am not generally a cozy mystery reader, but I loved the characters, the voice and following the fun story. It’s an adult book, but there is nothing inappropriate for children in here and there were a few young fans at the launch, including Elise’s 9 year old daughter! I would absolutely let a 3rd or 4th grader read this.

May the Fourth be with you! Happy Star Wars day! If you’re looking for something appropriate to read for today, consider the graphic book Lucas Wars. It’s about the struggles George Lucas had in getting the movie Star Wars made in the first place. I found the book very entertaining, and it is a relatively quick read. If you don’t know about the challenges that were overcome to get the film made, you should check it out. And if you do know the story, this is a great way to review it again. -Rob
