Vineyard Update 🍇
A few days ago the deer found our young vines before we finished protecting them. We honestly weren't sure how they'd respond.

Today, all but one have pushed out fresh new leaves. The last one is still alive too—its buds are beginning to swell.

This evening I'm adding bamboo supports, helping each vine grow into a strong, straight trunk. I'm reminded that resilience and the need for support aren't opposites.

They're often how growth begins. 🌿

🚨 One more chance for peonies.

If you've been missing peony season, we have good news.

Fresh mixed-color bouquets from Hope Blooms Flower Farm just arrived at the Natural Food Co-op in Litchfield—perfect timing for Watercade weekend! These blooms were harvested at their peak and carefully stored just for moments like this.

They're beautiful, fragrant, and won't be around for long. We'll restock while our cooler still has flowers... and when it's empty, peony season is officially over until next summer.

Happy Fourth of July! 🇺🇸

Yesterday we gave our baby vineyard its very first pruning, removing the flower clusters so the vines can focus on growing strong roots and trunks. Sometime overnight...the deer stopped by for a Fourth of July snack. 🦌

So today, while much of the country is celebrating, we spent part of the holiday reinforcing the trellis and adding an electric fence before the next storm rolled in.

Farms don't really take holidays.

The vines still grow. The deer still eat. The storms still come.

And somehow, we wouldn't have it any other way.
Here's to protecting what we're growing—one season, one lesson, and one holiday at a time. 🍇🌿

Eighteen days.

That's all.

Eighteen days ago these little vines had just been planted. Today they're unfolding leaves, reaching toward the sun, and even forming their very first tiny flower clusters.

It's a good reminder that growth often happens quietly. You don't notice much from one day to the next…until suddenly you do. This little teaching vineyard is already teaching me patience.

There goes another truckload.

Hundreds of peonies from our farm were loaded this week and are headed to a wholesale warehouse, where they'll be distributed to florists across eight states.

I love knowing they stay cold the entire journey—from our cooler, to the refrigerated truck, to the warehouse cooler, and eventually to florist coolers. A lot of care goes into getting flowers from the field to the final arrangement.

It's pretty amazing to think that flowers grown here at Hope Blooms will soon be part of weddings, celebrations, and everyday bouquets hundreds of miles away.

Not bad for a little farm in Minnesota. 🌸

Some of you don't know this yet...

Isaac's Father's Day gift this year wasn't something that fit in a box. - It was a little vineyard, carefully and secretly made by me and the kids.

Just a few rows. A handful of vines. An excuse to dream about what this place might become years down the road.

Tonight after supper I wandered out there, leaned against one of the posts, and just sat for a while. The birds were singing, the cottonwoods were rustling, and the evening sun was warm on my back.

Peonies teach me to move fast.

These little grapevines are teaching me something different—that not everything beautiful has to happen in one season.

For now, they're just tiny buds reaching toward summer.

And honestly... I think that's enough.

Week 4 Donation Location: Atwater Area Help for Seniors

Our final subscription donation of the season went to Atwater Area Help for Seniors.

Earlier this spring, we had planned to host a tour for their group during peony season. Unfortunately, this year's short bloom season had other plans, and we weren't able to make it happen.

Even though they couldn't come to the farm, we still wanted to share a little of peony season with them.

We hope these bouquets brightened some homes, brought a few smiles, and reminded each recipient that they are seen and cared for.

Thank you to our subscription members who made these weekly donations possible. Over the past four weeks, because of your support, we've been able to share flowers with organizations serving women, families, hospice and home care patients, and now seniors in our community.

What a beautiful way to end the season. 🌸

🚗🌸 On the road with Week 4 subscription deliveries.

This week's bouquets might just be my favorite of the season. Pink, red, and buttery yellow peonies paired with vibrant purple delphinium—full of color, texture, and joy.

They feel like a celebration, which seems fitting for our final subscription delivery of the year.

As always, each subscription bouquet was matched with a donation bouquet. Tomorrow we'll share where this week's flowers were delivered, and that will mark the true end of our 2026 peony season.

Thank you to everyone who subscribed, shared our posts, visited the farm, picked flowers, and helped make this season possible. It's been a short, beautiful, and memorable one.

I don't always see our farm the way others do. I see the weeds, the projects, and the work still left to do.

Then a photographer comes along and captures the beauty, the families, the laughter, and the memories being made here.
