THE ROBOT GARAGE TO CLOSE IN GROSSE POINTE PARK
Three years ago, an amazing family approached us about opening The Robot Garage in Grosse Pointe Park. As a small family business, we had just wrapped our arms around running a second location in Rochester Hills, and had a fairly specific idea of where we wanted to open our next locations. Grosse Pointe Park was not on our radar, but we were so impressed with the efforts being made to bring businesses to the Park that we took a look. We fell in love with the community and the space on Kercheval. Our landlords, and the city itself, worked with us to make the opening possible, and we are a stronger company today because of this opportunity. Along the way we have met so many amazing kids, families, and school administrators, and hope The Robot Garage has given as much to the community as it has given to us.
That said, we will not be renewing our lease when it runs out at the end of August. 2017 was our best year yet as a company, and we are on track to meet or exceed that in 2018. Our commitment to continue developing new STEM curriculum and experiences to serve the kids of SE Michigan remains steadfast. Our team has grown to 100+, and we are encouraged by the fact that so many new jobs can be created in a mission-driven company that focuses on community and education.
This change came about quickly and rather than rush into a new location, we are taking a step back to focus on our core and how we can best serve our customers. We have so many great new ideas in the works that we can’t wait to share with everyone. In short, we truly believe the best is yet to come!
We will be running our summer camps in Grosse Pointe Park through the end of August as planned. Then we will be packing up in September and already know how we will miss seeing all the Grosse Pointe families on a regular basis. As a small consolation we will be extending a discount to our existing customers who wish to take classes and have parties at our other locations. We hope to continue working with many of our Grosse Pointe staff - this amazing group of young adults who have been dedicated to our mission from the start and worked tirelessly to provide so many magical moments for thousands of kids over the past few years. For those who will need to find other jobs, we hope the community will embrace them and help to find new and rewarding opportunities for them.
We thank everyone for a great three years in Grosse Pointe Park, and hope you will all have the opportunity to stop in and say goodbye before we close the Kercheval store.
