Love this! 🍃
I’m going to test the waters a little bit with this one. This is something I want to make a video about, just haven’t found the words to express it fully.
👚Quick plug: T-Shirt now available at Fae Realm Fashion. Hand drawn and edited by me.
The Renaissance Faire is what we make it, and for the longest time it’s been a place for artists. PURE artists whether it’s by selling wares or by performing an art. This is our opportunity to live outside of the societal norms as professionals artists and create our own businesses doing what we love, while also being a community who builds each other up. Well, our community has been struggling. There are about a million concerns that make our lives harder which I won’t go into, but one of these things is the absolute infestation of generative Ai. What I mean by this is images and creative writing created 100% by a software being used to falsely advertise what to expect at a festival or by selling pretend art prints on T-shirts and other products.
I understand this is happening everywhere, but the problem is that RenFaire is suppose to be a space to celebrate real art. And this isn’t someone using it here and there. Most new festivals I’m seeing are using it. And it’s not like I would refuse to work with a festival who uses it, but I would HIGHLY suggest that they change their method of advertising. A lot of people in the community are willing to help new festivals for FREE, including myself. And everyone is getting pretty sick and tired of seeing the same old Ai “art” styles that everyone else is using. This goes hand and hand with excessive resalers. RenFaire is slowly growing into a more corporate place lacking soul and creativity. It’s important that we continue to support the festivals and the artists who prioritize authenticity and creativity to continue the “immaculate vibes” that RenFaire is known for.
Credit goes to VettrHeim for coming up with the original No Ai at Ren-Faire pin concept.
