Well the time has come, we have made the decision unfortunately we can no longer keep the bait shop going. Between rising utility cost, bait supply prices, and heck the weather lol we cannot keep throwing money at it hoping it will work. We want to give a tremendous thank you to everyone who shopped our small businesses and helped support our dream and the ones on the sidelines cheering us on! We met some incredible people and had a great time getting to know you through our shared love of fishing. We will continue our journey with our powdercoating businesses Outlaw Armor and would appreciate your continued support. Its never easy to have a small businesses in a small town so I would encourage everyone to support their local small business its rough out there lol. Thank you all

Unfortunately we had some bad news our heater quit. So we have decided to just end our season here. In the next couple of weeks we will be making a decision if we will be back next year. Unfortunately like all small businesses the lack of business, rising utility prices, and the weather have all took their toll. We are still powder coating under the name OutLaw Armor that business will not be effected.
But Today will be the last day the shop will be open for Lil' River Rats. Our Outlaw Armor customers we are still using the shop for pickup and dropoff of your parts as appointment only. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Dnr has had a change for the youth season: A hunter with an unfilled, valid Youth Deer Hunt Permit may also hunt during the first and second firearm deer seasons November 21-23 and Dec. 4-7, 2025

It’s almost time for youth firearm deer season here are some important reminders before opening day, Saturday, Oct. 11.

✔ Youth must be less than 18 years of age on first day of hunt

✔ Permit available to resident and nonresident youth, limit of 1 either-s*x deer permit. Permit is valid on private land statewide, with landowner permission, or on public sites open to this season.

✔ Each youth hunter must be accompanied by a non-hunting adult that is in immediate control of the youth hunter at all times during the hunt. The adult must have a current Illinois hunting license if a non-resident or if the youth is using an apprentice or youth hunting license.

✔ A hunter with an unfilled, valid youth deer hunt permit may also hunt during the first firearm deer season Nov. 21 - 23, subject to restrictions outlined in Administrative Rule 17-685.

Our memorial day hours are the same as last year, we are closing at noon on Friday the 23rd. We will reopen Tuesday as normal. If you have a large bait order let me know before Tuesday so I can get it ordered to guarantee we will have it. So far its looking like a wet beginning to the week but turn nice for the weekend! Have a beautiful Sunday everyone!
