The progress of almost a week of French Polishing (aplicando goma laca). So far no oil has been introduced to the process other than the wet level sanding which I have done twice already. After the sanding, the oil is removed by using two different clean rags. Once that is done the French a polishing is continued. The soundboard still needs work and I need to level the lows on the center line leopard wood.

This is just the second session of French polish (goma laca) yes I gave it two light coats with a brush to seal the wood but still. Surface preparation is a pain in… but the results are amazing.

Also due to the fact that I am using button lac, the mix has a bit of the natural wax and so I am not using any oil at all, and the pad is well lubricated.
The music in the clip is a happy accident as I was playing a bit of Chambao in the background we will see if fb complains about it.

The first two sealing coats with platina dewaxed flakes. After this there will be a bit of Sanding and will continue with button shellac for the French polish

So I got these dyed bone nuts and saddled blanks. I am loving them. and they came so oversized and I decided (suggested by a dear friend of mine) to see if I could get two saddles on one blank and yes!!!! you can Love it .

Also the polish as glass.

So I was just about to begin the french polishing (goma laca) when I decided that an arm rest would be a beneficial feature for the player and make it even more confortable. So I stopped right there and added this.

Repairing a crack at the lower bow where I could not reach.
Thea cleats were laminated with opposite grain direction as I could not control how the orientation of the grain would end up.

I struggled with what wood to use for the cap of this Spanish heel. The choice was a bit of the leftover of the Ziricote, or a piece of the leopard wood. At the end the Leopard wood wan the contest.

Still a bit of more cleanup is needed but overall, I am happy this it.

My friend Ricardo came with a guitar to be repaired, and we took the opportunity to test my new Flamenco Blanca "La Flamenquita". It is always a pleasure to listen to his playing.

The guitar
Scale is 650mm
Back and sides are Spanish Cypress
The top is Spruce
The neck is laminated with Cedro, Rosewood, Padauk, Maple and ebony
The fingerboard is Ebony
The bridge is Rosewood
The Headstock is flamed maple
Everything is hand crafted, from the careful selections of the appropriate woods to making the rosette and purfling bindings to absolutely everything
