Freed Instrument Services We service all makes and models of guitars and amplifiers. Vintage tube amps are our specialty. Over 40 years experience. I do full repairs and restorations.

I have been servicing guitars and amplifiers since 1974. I grew up with all tube gear when it that was all there was. Then everything went to solid state in the 1980's-90's and then guitarist really became aware of the missing tube "sound" and it all came back with a vengeance! Guitar work too, Full refrets, setups, pickups, electronics and any custom work you can dream up too including custom pearl inlay work.

Craziest day of my life. Around 4pm on a warm summer upstate NY backstage waiting. The bus pulls up. It’s my 1970’s heroes; the New Riders of The Purple Sage. There are horribly faded red tour bus backs in very very slowly and methodically no loud music no crashes just slow and steady. They park. There’s a short delay. The tour bus door opens up in a cloud smoke comes out. I stood there frozen. And I said to myself, oh Lord, the New Riders are here. What a great day of music and stories. Rest in peace Mr. Buddy Cage.

A all too common occurance for a Gibson guitar. The dreaded snapped off headstock! We fixed it for the customer.

After a 4 month battle we got it back together. This is a vintage Taylor. Came in with neck snapped off. Bridge lifting. Many cracks in the top and sides and about 50% of the binding coming off. Also missing its pickguard

A long battle over and it plays and sounds great. Had to make pickguard by hand from a plastic sheet.
