We set up 4 grow beds in this greenhouse. The plastic is double layered. All these beds are powered from a single solar panel and 12 volt battery. The solar charger is built in the controller. It is warm inside. i needed a jacket outside.

I sprinkled tomato seeds in the pebbles. There was a good layer of algae. The seeds germinated and grew.

Recently we installed a Hydroponic system is a green house with 4 beds. Each bed is 4'x4'. There was 4 pumps that filled the bed. There was a 100W solar panel and car battery that powered all 4 beds. THis was a good solution for a remote greenhouse.

The pump needs cleaning when a particle jams the impeller. In most cases it will be many seasons before a cleaning is needed.

If the bed fails to fill, the alarm will trigger.

Lava stone produces small particles that are rough and tend to jam the pump. It is recommended to use pea gravel instead of lava rock.

Spraying away the fine dirt and sand from the pebbles will help the pump last longer between cleanings. It is impressive how much solid material can pass through these pumps before a jam occurs.

This crop was started in December 2017 using inside Hydroponics and LED lighting.
