It is with a very heavy heart that I have to tell everyone that Mondo has crossed the rainbow bridge.

If you have ever been to the store, chances are very good that you were greeted by the friendliest cat in the world.

Not everyone knows his story, so here are a few things I know. He was abandoned on the property when he was about 6 or 7 years old. When new people started moving in, he was cared for by all. When I opened the store, he would walk around the parking lot getting as much attention from people as he could get. I tried and tried to get him to live in the store, but he wouldn't come in the store. The first winter there was a big snowstorm and that's all it took. He finally came inside and that was that. He was 18 years old and I am very happy that I was able to take care of him in his senior years.

He's been a huge part of the community and beyond. I have so many people come in and ask if I still have that cat. (I even have people come in just to see the cat.)

I will miss him very much, he greeted me every morning when I came to work.

He will be laid to rest by the lilac bush and a memorial will be erected for him, so people can still visit Mondo.

Thank you to everyone who came up to support our Food Truck Fundraiser . It was a great day. Also a very special thank you to Cindy Inman, Gregory Hodge, Rose Patton, and Christina Post for all your help. I could never have done it without you.

ALERT!

We will be temporarily shutting down Mt Pilchuck Road from August 13 (evening) through August 14. The gate at Heather Lake will be closed and road guards will be stationed at the Mt Pilchuck parking lot and at the Heather Lake trailhead. Folks that have official business needs will still be able to gain access to the area.

We are doing a temporary closure to stage the area for helicopter operations in support of the work being done at Lake 22 trail.

In the last 8 years of owning and operating the Mtn Loop General Store, the biggest thing I've learned is that we need hot food. I have gone round and round with the Sno Co Health District and the verdict is: No food will ever be served from the building that is currently on the property. I do not own the property, so I do not want to rebuild the building.

However, there is a way that I could serve food. I need to purchase a food truck or trailer.

The idea is to park the truck behind the store, with picnic tables in the grassy area beside the store.

It would be a simple menu. I would serve burgers and fries, fish and chips, hot dogs, chicken strips, etc. I would also have daily specials. For example, Meatloaf Monday, Taco Tuesday, Burger Wednesday, Prime Rib Friday etc.

If you think this is a great idea and want to have a hot food option in Robe, please consider donating to help me get a truck.
