LGD 15-wk Pup-Date: Sheva, our Karakachan LGD puppy, is getting more independent and better about staying with the sheep, but she still needs much more training.

The older mama ewe with a new baby helps train the pup on acceptable and unacceptable behaviors by charging at her any time she gets too close to the lamb.

Sadly, Sheva got to a couple chickens this week before we were able to intervene and separate her. More on what we will be doing to mitigate this later. It's a good reminder to me that LGDs are not poultry safe until they are 2+ years old. They are just so fun to chase!

Looks like another storm's blowing into Johnson County. I was going to distribute some rabbit manure to my newly planted trees until I about got blown away! 😅 What do y'all think about the weather this spring?

Coturnix Quail Update! ✅ Week 1: No losses, they are getting bigger by the day, and they're ready for us to lower the brooder heat a bit. They are so cute and make pleasant little sounds. No regrets (yet 😅).
