Got a new, used haul in recently and today I had a chance to grade, price, and put vinyl on the sales floor. A lot of funk, soul, and old school r & b entered the crates today. However, this one was in the bunch. Madonna’s debut album (an original copy). I had to keep this one for myself. This is a great album and my older sister used to wear it out when we were growing up.

Once a refuge from segregation, Juke Joints inspired Black joy.

During enslavement, Black people were not permitted to gather; in some cases, dancing and singing were not allowed. Despite these constraints, music played an important role in the development of the Black community. As blues music gained popularity in the Jim Crow South, Juke Joints became safe places for Black people to gather, listen to music, eat good soul food, and socialize with others.

One ABSOLUTELY CANNOT create a community garden in an alley between two businesses/buildings. Alleyways are often seen as dark places that contain trash and other undesirable items. This space still needs some work; however, WE ARE ABSOLUTELY GROWING FOOD for the community in a desolate area and things are THRIVING. If you believe and put in the work…a beautiful harvest will always manifest!
