Lastly, meet the owner, Mitch. He started this journey of Northern Goods out of his 600 square foot apartment 10 years ago. He is a strange fella. But a thankful strange fella that loves Grand Marais and small business, and can’t believe he gets to call this work.

1. Favorite outdoor activity: Hiking & Winter Camping
2. Favorite animal: Pangolin. That is the only right answer.

Of course it’s not our team without our captain: Kevin.

Kev has been our general manager since day 1, and put an incredible amount of time and energy into bringing our flagship store to life. Despite having terrible taste in sports teams (Hawkeyes and Packers), we’re thankful to know that he’s shaping the experience of everyone who steps foot inside our store and are lucky to have him.

Next stop on our staff intros, is in some ways, the longest tenured staff in our store!

Charles actually worked in the store back when it was Stone Harbor, and we’re incredibly lucky that he has stuck around and continues to share his time with us. Rumor has it that photographs do not exist of him without an animal in his hand.

1. Favorite outdoor activity: I only chase large fish. Pre-dawn and dusk.
2. Favorite animal: Birds. I hand feed them. And our crows bring us treasure.
3. Something you might not have known about him: Half of my outdoor activity occurs at night. Nature puts on her best show when the stars are out.

Another one of the new faces in the shop waiting to greet you: Martha

Martha joined the team late this spring, and we liked her so much that we called off further interviewing as soon as we ended our interview with her!

1. Favorite outdoor activity: Camping & hiking with her dogs.

Cat just moved to the area (literally, yesterday) to work primarily for one of our favorite organizations in the world ()… And that made us want to hire her quite frankly.
