The smallest variety on the market. 🌱📏

It's the smallest version of our fabulous native oakleaf hydrangea on the market, this hydrangea is a tiny fraction of the epic proportions it can reach in nature. This makes it ideal for small spaces. Despite its small size, it doesn't skimp on the display, as it is covered with big cone-shaped summer blooms that develop a ruby tone come autumn, and of course, has the same fabulous fall color you expect from oakleaf hydrangeas.

3-4 feet tall and wide at maturity

USDA zones 5-9

Hydrangea season starts with the right soil! 🪏

Moist, well-drained soil is best for bigleaf hydrangeas, like the one you see here. They wilt easily, so a steady supply of moisture will keep your plant looking its best.

✔️ A good 2-3” layer of mulch is crucial in all climates, year-round!

Invincibelle Limetta® Smooth Hydrangea 🍋‍🟩

This smooth hydrangea (Hydrangea arborescens) does something most can't: it blooms reliably every year, even in Zone 3! Here's what to expect: lime green mophead flowers emerge in early summer, soften to white, then deepen to a subtle lime green, lasting all the way to frost. Growing to about 3–4 feet tall and wide, it fits foundation plantings, borders, and containers alike. Strong stems mean no staking, no flopping. Swipe to see it through the season.

➡️ Would you rather have fresh green hydrangea flowers or bright white?

A Native Stand-Out: Hydrangea Arborescens 🌿

Smooth hydrangeas are great selections for native, pollinator, rain, or shade gardens. They attract butterflies, moths, pollinators, and songbirds, as well as being a host plant for the larvae of the Hydrangea sphinx (Darapsa versicolor) moth.

Planting native hydrangeas, such as smooth hydrangeas, helps build a healthy ecosystem in your garden and supports a better Earth! 🌎

When is the best time to plant hydrangeas? 🌱

Remember, these are just suggestions that make the planting and establishment process as stress-free as possible for both you and your hydrangea; they aren't set-in-stone rules. The real key is to minimize the stress the plant experiences, whether from heat, cold, water, or humidity, so that it can quickly grow roots in its new home.

➡️ Save this for when you decide to add hydrangeas to your landscape!

🌱 What do you plant with hydrangeas?

Hostas complement nearly any hydrangea with their contrasting foliage and tall flower stalks. This plant pairing can withstand hot, humid summer temperatures and create a layered look in any landscape.

⭐️ Since hydrangeas prefer morning sun and afternoon shade, other part-sun perennials like hostas make great low-maintenance companion plants that thrive in similar soil conditions.
