Here's the latest Grand County Fishing Report. Week of 6/1/2026

The streams are running and water levels are rising along with the temperature of the water. Fish are starting to move towards their summer patterns and trending towards the deeper, cooler water. Time is now to take advantage of this opportunity to fish while the inlets are running and keeping the bite going strong. See you on the water!

Slowing down your presentation is CRITICAL after a cold front.

In stable weather with a breeze blowing against the bank, hungry rainbows, browns, and lakers cruising shoreline shallows are easy marks for casting or longline trolling swimbaits, spoons, and stickbaits. But when a front passes and bright sun beats on glass-calm waters, the bite fizzles.

"Aggressive tactics are out," says high-country guide and longtime salmonid stalker Bernie Keefe, of Granby, Colorado. "But that doesn't mean you quit fishing."

Keefe copes by finessing softbaits such as 4-inch bass-style tubes and 5-inch Berkley PowerBait and Gulp! Alive Jerk Shads.

He threads subdued-colored softbaits on similarly drab leadheads up to half an ounce in weight. The heft helps fuel long casts and engenders easy bottom contact.

"Push the head tight against jerkbaits and deep into tubes, so the jig burrows into bottom," he advises.

Make a long cast, let the jig settle, and begin a slow, bottom-oriented retrieve. Keep the rodtip at about 2 o'clock, alternately dragging, twitching, and pausing the jig. Pauses may linger 10 to 15 seconds. Prime lies include the same flats, points, and inside turns that gave up trout before the front arrived, in depths of 2 to 15 feet.

"I like fishing sand, gravel, and mud, mainly because rocks eat rigs dragged along the bottom," Keefe explains.

Shout out to Rick and Art, they did a great job jigging up some Lakers.
Rick was celebrating his birthday and also wanted to dedicate this trip to his nephew Jake who passed away at a young age. He wanted to get a picture with Jake and a fish.

Grand County Fishing Report Week of 5/25/26-- The holiday weekend was busy with full parking lots at the open boat ramps. Weather has remained a mixed bag as still seeing a little bit of everything, but we will take any water we can get this year! Water level and lake temperatures are rising, fishing has remained good. The best fishing action has been for lake trout with Lake Granby being the star of the show. Hope to see you on the water!

The memories were made this Memorial Day. The Dardanes from Brush, Colorado came to Granby to enjoy and relax. They put the smack down on the fish and Nick got an absolute beauty, he is now part of the 36” club! Great job to the whole squad!

Don't know how I got so lucky to have Dex in the boat. This 11 year old from Kansas is on it (Dad warned me about him)! We just get on spot doing first drop, I'm explaining how the lake trout bite is different than any other fish and within seconds bam... ones on the way up. Dex smoked Dad in numbers and size with a nice 30. Pleasure to fish with you Ethan!

The bite is hot...book now while we still have a boat ramp. Randy H - Guide Fishing with Bernie

Another slam fest on Granby!!
The bite is hot and doesn’t seem to be slowing down! Book your trip today and be part of the action!
We are filling up fast so don’t hesitate!

Great job by the Meiers from Waco Texas! They figured out the cadence to punish. My forearm is sore from netting and unhooking all their fish.
