We had a great couple of days on the water Tuesday and Wednesday, windy as hell first day, about 20mph on the second.
Besides the obvious, we wanted to try some head to head on several different colors so we rotated rod positions about 3 times on each pass-to be fair to location of fish.
Regardless of rod position, one bait (completely unexpected) outperformed everything else by a fair amount.
Oahe Smelt Plus…..12 fish
Original Alewife……9 fish
Moe’s Kadiddlehammer…6 fish- (13.5lb’er on this one)
Alewife Plus………….4 fish
White…………………..2
Sexy Shad……………2
Chartreuse…………..1
Used Cht/wht teezer, big mac attack,
Clearwater magic, Shad, purple/chartreuse with a goose egg.
Scientific??? Not even.
We used both gold and silver blades and the #1 producer for us has silver front, gold on the back. 5 fish were caught with all silver, everything else was pure gold.
Came home for a day to get a few orders shipped, heading back early in am, we’ll be spending the next 8 days continuing this challenge and I’m sure many factors affect things differently everyday.
If nothing else it’s fun at it’s best.
If you see the older maroon on sand Pro-V Lund with ETec on the rear, come say hi, I’ll have some Big Eye Spinnerbait hats on board to pass some out.
Appreciate everyone that’s helped me get off to a great start with this!
