This week I want to introduce you guys to Rock LeDoux of Rock Blade Craft.
Rock makes mostly one of a kind Damascus - mostly skinners and hunters, with some chef and kitchen knives in there too.
I asked him why he makes them and he said - "I make them because I enjoy the challenge of trying to make the perfect knife and I'll let you know when I make one."
That says it all about Rock.
His favorite part of the process is watching a blade come out of the etch - and if you've ever etched Damascus, you know that feeling.
For you new makers out there, his advice is simple and solid: "Don't get discouraged, keep trying new things."

This week I want to introduce you guys to Jesse Hodgeson of Hodge Knives right here in Gonzales, LA.
Jesse has been making knives since 2011. All things fixed blade - chef knives, hunting knives, bush knives, Bowies, EDCs - he does it all. He slowly built his shop from a small homemade forge that barely got hot enough to heat treat and a railroad track anvil to so many quality useful tools he's had to part ways with some over space. Mostly built by hand with a welding machine and scrap steel. He proves building takes time but you can do it for very little if you have the will.
Jesse credits The Holy Spirit for his desire to create knives and for the skills he's learned along the way. At his public shows, craft shows and the Louisiana Knife Show, he does giveaways for trying some Bible trivia! He also posts content online about the knife making process and messages about Jesus.
