My face was to the Wall

It is sad that you cannot live with suspicious minds. If you feel that you can’t trust someone you are caught in a conflict. If they are innocent they shall be irate that you doubted them. If they are genially involved with someone else, you have to confront them or live in denial. The may be only friends and their relationship is just platonic and your suspicious manner may be the reason they don’t mention their relationship as closed friends!.

My face was to the Wall
By Norman Snowden

I suspected there was something you weren’t telling me,
And it was just last night I would learn a reason for it all.
I looked in a window then saw you kissing someone else,
You reached up and turned my picture slowly to the wall.

My picture faced to the wall so you wouldn’t have to see,
Anything at all there that would have you thinking of me.
Did moments of cheapness make you ashamed and small?
Was I further from your conscience and I am face to a wall?

Alone out in the darkness were eyes had worshiped you,
As I watched you cheating on me then I saw my idol fall.
Your arms around him and his lips where mine should be,
And it was just last night I would learn a reason for it all.

I suspected there was something you weren’t telling me,
And it was just last night I would learn a reason for it all.
I looked in a window then saw you kissing someone else,
You reached up and turned my picture slowly to the wall.

The Connection Is Universal

Format: Paperback Amazon Verified Purchase
I treasure the first two volumes from Snowden and am delighted that this one is out in time for the holidays. What he is writing about—his memories of growing up on an island in Maine—knows no borders. These are words that apply to the universal condition all over the world. The names of the people and places may be different, but readers everywhere will recognize them. A lovely book.
