The various flokati rugs are categorized based on the pile height and thickness of the wool; Otherwise referred to as the grade. The grade is determined by the weight of the wool measured in grams (g/M2). In simple terms the more wool within a square meter of a flokati rug, the higher the grade and ultimately the fuller these wool area rugs will be.

Here is a list of the typical grades of flokati rugs.

Flokati rugs are well known wool s**g rugs that have been around for centuries. These rugs originated in the village of Northern Greece where stumbled upon the unique beauty that would become the flokati rug. Under the waterfalls of the famous Pindos Mountains, each rug is placed in the friction baths connected to the waterfalls. Flokati rugs are subjected to tremendous water pressure for almost two days. This causes the backing of the wool to swell and the pile to unravel and fluff out. Each flokati rug is then hung out to dry in the sun and inspected to ensure ultimate quality, comfort and elegance. Flokati rugs come naturally in off-white.
