New life-size sculpture commissioned by Gillette Mainstreet, Gillette, WY. The city’s namesake Edward Gillette was a surveyor for the railroad. This photo shows it still in clay form. It was delivered this week to the foundry to be cast in bronze.
📣 Coming Soon to Downtown Gillette!
Gillette Main Street is proud to announce an exciting new addition to our downtown—a statue honoring our town’s namesake, Edward Gillette, coming soon in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary 🇺🇸.
Thanks to the generosity of private donors and support from a state grant, this meaningful project will be placed on the first block of Gillette Avenue—the very block that sparked the creation of our downtown and the heart of our community.
The statue has been beautifully created by local artist Tom Ford, and the project is led by the Gillette Main Street Beautification Committee as part of our ongoing efforts to enhance and celebrate our historic downtown.
💛 How you can help:
Gillette Main Street is currently accepting donations to help cover the remaining costs of this project. Every contribution helps bring this tribute to life and invest in the future of downtown Gillette. You can also purchase Super Bowl squares at The Local, funds will go toward the statue!
Stay tuned for updates—and thank you for supporting Gillette’s history, art, and Main Street spirit.
