Love it when my customer, Ryan sends me text messages like these and liking how the rod is performing for him! There were posts about this particular Delta blank BB 804-1 recently and its performance vs another NFC model. It even prompted a video from Gary Loomis on blank ratings. This guy fishes a lot and is putting this blank through its paces and its performing for him!! The swim bait in the pic is 11” and 5 oz. Aleks Maslov

I've been reflecting on my time as an Ambassador for the Bassmaster Elite Tournament on Lake Murray. It was AWESOME to do this! I learned so much. I had three great pros, Bryan New Fishing , Jordan Lee, and Matt Robertson ON’EM . You realize just how good these guys are. You can talk about the cheater box all you want, but these guys create a plan and don't waste a single minute on the water to maximize the number of casts they can make. Watching these guys on TV doesn't give you a true appreciation for the physical toll these tournaments take on the mind and body of these athletes. Consider the fact that they practice multiple days before the tournament, and then 8-10 hours on the water for a minimum of 2 days, and if they do their job correctly, it will be 3 or 4 total days. It is grueling and takes a toll on them. After the 3rd straight day of being an Ambassador, I told my wife that I’m probably not doing it again...She said, " Right, who are you kidding. You know what, she's right...I will do it again the next time they come to Lake Murray!

Today was the Midlands Striper Club May tournament on Murray. Ended up in 8th today and it was a grind. Happy we could bring our limit to the scales. Lost a BIG fish early that broke me off. That fish would have definitely pushed us over the top ;). Ended up down rodding and free lined a herring on light spinning tackle. Caught a nice 7.5lb fish that way. What a fun way to catch striper with the rod in your hand! Overall a beautiful day on the water and it was great to have my fishing partner, Dave back in the boat!

Ron from SCC makes some amazing baits. I'm anxiously waiting for a couple of his jewels to arrive late this week for some field testing on Lake Murray! Check his website out!

Day 2 of the Bassmaster Elite tournament on Lake Murray is over. I was fortunate to draw Jordan Lee. Jordan Lee He had an EPIC day with a bag over 26 lbs and big fish so far at 7lbs 7 oz. I learned a few things today but what impressed me the most is how considerate he was toward other anglers and not just the Elites but the locals fishing. He’d ask if it was OK to fish in the same spot. He also put his FFS on a unit at the helm so I could see what he was seeing! Way cool!

Had the pleasure of being the BASS Ambassador with Bryan New Fishing. Heck of a fisherman! If you ever get a chance to be an Ambassador I highly recommend. You will get an appreciation of why these guys are so good!

20lbs 10oz was good enough for 25th to get started on Murray. Hope to do it again tomorrow. Ryder said daddy catch big fish so I’m going to try!

I know some of my posts lately haven’t been custom rod related but, very fortunate to be spending some downtime in Hawaii on the Garden Island of Kauai! It is spectacular! Everyday is rinse and repeat weather. Right now the best waves on the island are right where we are staying. It’s cool to watch them!
