2 years ago I was walking away from 523 with a lot of memories and new friends... today I am walking away from 450 with more memories and friends!
For nearly 9 years I have been part of the Gettysburg community as a little home decor shop. I've donated to your charities, I've watched your babies grow, I've heard so many of your stories, heard about you getting dumped by that stupid guy you met on Tinder, been invited to your weddings (not to the Tinder guy, he was a turd), and so much more.
523 was the perfect first store. It was small and kind of -out of the way- but it was the perfect fit for what we were bringing (back) to the area. What started as a ✨️thought✨️ on Easter became my new dream and reality. When covid happened and the economy took a turn, we were so afraid of losing TPD. But, y'all showed up! Our little shop grew so much that we had to get a bigger space. It was a little overwhelming and I remember saying to my parents, "I don't think I'm done, but I think I'm done here." Bing..Bang...Boom.. 450 came along! When I tell you I damn near s**t my pants walking into that big store for the first time. 🤦♀️ I called up Mom and Dad and said, "I think we can make this work." It was either go big or go home.. and we went big!
I set out and did what I wanted to do. We grew our family business. I was able to be a business owner.
And now it's time to, "go home." It's time to find a new dream. Whatever that may be. I was given an amazing opportunity, the kind where I get to be someone I haven't been able to be in a long time.
Y'all, having a business is hard. If it was easy, everyone would do it. It takes a special kind of person to wake up every day and choose to be their own boss, to be responsible to feed multiple families, to donate to great causes, to be up all night with a sick child just to turn around and open the next morning for the community. PLEASE be kind. PLEASE support your local businesses.
Also, some have asked, yes, I will be keeping this page up and running. I am sure it will turn into pictures of Tucker and of course, where the highlands are. As of now, I will not personally be shipping any cows, but you can purchase them (and be shipped) through The Primitive Daughter, Greencastle and North County Supply.
I appreciate the love and support over the years; it was a pleasure to serve (some of) you!
