Today's plant of the Day: Aloe Vera
Aloe perfoliata.
There are over 650 species of Aloe! The most widely known is Aloe Vera or "True Aloe". Aloe is a succulent, which means they store water in their fleshy leaves, stems, or roots. This helps them survive in arid environments. They are native to Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, India, and Madagascar, but they're naturalized in places like Australia, Hawaii, and the Americas.
Aloes are mostly cultivated as ornamental plants in gardens and pots. Many are highly decorative and valued by collectors. However, Aloe can be used both medicinally (for burns, cuts and scrapes) and for cosmetic properties, like soaps, lotions and other skin products.
We have different sizes and varieties in our greenhouse. Some are on special price this week. Come on in and see what we have available.

Plant of the day!
Plectranthus "Cervez n' Lime" also known as cuban oregano, Swedish Ivy, or Candle Plant.
In the mint and sage family.

An "unconventional" yet appealing candidate for use in containers, window boxes, landscapes, or as an indoor house plant. Mostly for ornamental purposes, it's fragrant potential is often overlooked; It offers a refreshing lime-like aroma. Drought resistant, thrives in relatively dry conditions, like a succulent. Rapid growth rate and propagates easily from cuttings. Heat tolerant, shade tolerant and pet friendly. Reaches heights of 14" and spreads 1 foot. An annual in zone 5B, but can be kept as a houseplant throughout the winter.
Allow to dry in between watering, plant in well drained soil. Trim as necessary to maintain mounded shape.
