Ever wonder how marine canvas professionals keep fabric layers perfectly aligned before sewing?

One of the simplest tools in the shop is also one of the most valuable: Seamstick tape.

Whether you're repairing a sail, building a dodger, sewing boat cushions, or working on a canvas enclosure, Seamstick helps hold materials in place without pins that can damage marine fabrics.

✅ Keeps seams aligned

✅ Speeds up assembly

✅ Reduces frustration during sewing

✅ Great for sailmaking, canvas work, upholstery, and repairs

If you've never used Seamstick before, or you're not sure which type is right for your project, we've put together a quick guide covering what it does, when to use it, and why it has become a must-have tool for so many marine projects.

Read the guide in the comments below

Have you used Seamstick on a project recently? Share a photo in the comments—we'd love to see what you're working on.

Not all marine fabrics are created equal.

When you're choosing materials for a boat cover, bimini top, cockpit enclosure, or upholstery project, the texture, weave, and finish can make a big difference in both appearance and performance.

In this side-by-side comparison, we're looking at:

🔹 Sunbrella® Marine Fabric
🔹 Top Gun® Marine Fabric
🔹 Marine Vinyl
🔹 Polyester Canvas

Each material is designed for different applications, budgets, and performance requirements.

Sunbrella – Premium UV resistance and long-lasting color
Top Gun – Heavy-duty protection and durability
Marine Vinyl – Ideal for seating and upholstery projects
Polyester Canvas – Dependable performance at an affordable price

Your boat project doesn’t fail because you care too little.
It usually fails because you started with the wrong material.

Marine projects are different.

The fabric has to handle sun.
The thread has to handle UV.
The foam has to handle moisture.
The hardware has to hold up in a harsh environment.

That’s why “close enough” usually isn’t good enough on a boat.

Whether you’re repairing canvas, replacing cushions, patching sailcloth, or getting ready for your next DIY project, the right supplies make the work easier and the finished result last longer.

Not sure what you need? Ask us before you order. We’ll help you choose the right setup for the job.
