With frost still in the ground here in Canada, Tessha decided to test a small area of our early-1900s homestead property. Just 20 minutes into the hunt, her VX9 locked onto a clean 71 VDI. A quick check with the Garrett Carrot and out popped an incredible surprise... a U.S. Great Seal button found only 75 yards from our house!

She writes, “In just an hour and a half, I added four buttons and a 1921 Canadian cent to the pouch, but the best part was having my husband witness the whole recovery from the shop window before I ran over to show him. Not a bad way to kick off the season with frost still in the ground. Here’s to many more great finds with the VX9 in 2026!”

James H. couldn’t leave the house, so he stepped into his backyard for a few casual swings with the detector. His home is from the 1800s, so he searched this yard more times than he can count and honestly expected nothing. Then came a low 60s VDI signal… and out popped a beautiful 14k gold ring!

Just goes to show, the next great find could be hiding in the place you least expect👀

After a long day of iron nails and Lincoln pennies, Travis D. hit a soft, deep tone mixed with iron that almost didn’t seem worth digging. But once the plug was open, his AT Pro pinged a solid 76. Thinking it was another penny, he checked the hole with my Garrett pinpointer … and out tumbled a tiny silver coin.

He wrote, “The moment I brushed the dirt away and saw the words’ Half Dime,’ my hands started shaking. Instantly, the whole day became worth it.”

Congratulations to our International Favorite Finds winner Yoann S. from Europe!

Right before nightfall, Yoann S. headed out for one last hunt and quickly hit a deep high signal with his Vortex. He dug the hole and out came a beautiful silver 1 écu! That wasn’t it though... a second strong signal nearby revealed a silver quarter écu. He writes, “I thought the day was already made… until a low buried signal a few meters away changed everything. Out came a bent medieval gold ring. WOW! Silver, gold, and history all in one evening. Huge thanks to the Garrett team for making moments like this possible.”

Congratulations to our US Favorite Finds winner John M. from Texas!

John drove over an hour to the edge of the Texas Hill Country with his ACE 300 to help a rancher search for a ring lost six months earlier in a massive cow pasture. After 90 minutes of digging shotgun shells and scrap metal, one strong signal finally stopped him in my tracks.

He dug the target, checked the hole… nothing. Ran the pinpointer over the dirt clod and suddenly a massive gold and diamond ring appeared. The look on his face said it all. This was his great-grandfather’s ring, passed down through generations on a ranch that’s been in his family for over 200 years.

John writes, ”He offered money, but the real reward was hearing the history of the land, earning permission to hunt old 1830s homesites, and making a memory neither of us will forget. Thirty years with Garrett detectors, and moments like this are exactly why I still love this hobby.”

Congratulations to our Vortex Contest Finds winner Karen R. from Europe!

Road closures, tractor convoys, and fighting with Apple Maps almost stopped Karen R. from making it to the group dig. By the time she arrived, she was convinced the day just wasn’t meant to be. Then the VX9 sang out. It was her first target of the day, and she could not believe what she saw. She said, “Out of the ground came my very first GOLD find...a stunning Fidelity Ring inscribed: ‘After Consent Ever Content,’ dating somewhere between 1650–1750! A virtually identical ring was once classified as a “find of note and regional importance,” so now the waiting game begins. Safe to say the latest V9 update showed up when it mattered most.”
